At This Moment
At this moment I'm still in a bit of shock,
what my Mom heard from her doctor must be a crock,
my Mom can't have leukemia she's a rock,
all cancers need to be eradicated with a big giant "POP!"

Hospice
Very sick with leukemia toward the end. It almost seemed as if mother was giving up after what she considered a hard and disappointing life.  She still held her boys in her eyes in the fading light.

“I'm not planning your funeral,” the doctor said.

winter sun
stretched to twilight

The Big 7-0
If my dad had lived, he would be the big 7-0.
On this day, Dad was born seventy years ago.
Seven decades is how long he would've been alive.
But leukemia killed him, Dad did not survive.
He lost his life in 2013 on the 13th of July.
Dad would be the big 7-0 if he hadn't died.

[Dedicated to Charles F. Johnson (1947-2013) who died on July 13, 2013.]...

Sixty-Five
Today my dad turned sixty-five.
He's very ill but he's still alive.
He was diagnosed with leukemia in 2011.
He was born on this day back in 1947.

Even though he's sick, he's holding his own.
He has the comfort of knowing that he's not alone.
He has to have chemotherapy to survive.
On this day my dad turned sixty-five.

(Dedicated to Charles Johnson, my Dad.)...

Leukemia
lab results positive-
             living with cancer made
                       less sense than her dying
                       lethargic from chemo-
              laughing in remission,
                    Leanne was now cancer free!
Lord saved her soul from death…

Let's Pray For Charles Johnson Part 2
My dad's condition is worse than I thought.
He has leukemia and I need people to pray a lot.
It was quite a shock when I learned that he has cancer.
His survival is in God's hands, only he has the answer.

At first the Doctors thought they caught it early but he's had it for a while.
If he does not get better, it will be both sad and vile.
I thank you for praying for him before.
Now I ask you to pray some more....

Premium Member In Memoriam: Cousin Bruce

Beneath this green sod, lies
my Cousin Bruce.
It's true, his mother called him
'Silly Goose.'
Oh, that Nordic DNA, those
gorgeous blue eyes, and sense
of humor.
A skier and a Porsche race car
driver, he grew up to be.
Always filled with humor and
a genuine love for humanity.
Leukemia took his life at forty.
He serves God now, in grateful
and glowing, angelic glory.

Emmett
I hate knowing you won't be with us much longer.
For our bond has only grown stronger.

Your siblings for Heaven now have depart.
They will forever be in my heart.

I know now it was your disease
That took your siblings with such ease.

Feline leukemia is killing you
And real soon again I will be blue.

In the space of just one week
Death in this house has not been meek.

So my dear Emmett how do I let you go?
More heartache and pain is coming this I know...
