I’m going to 
tell you something. 
Even though
I know
your pity

like Huns of the night,
into my world.

I will be
your broken bird

on the sidewalk.

If,  at the end of a long day, 
when you coo 
perfumed nonsense 
around my wound, 
it clouds me 
in something 
that almost resembles
a mother’s 
warm touch.
