whispered rumours of the true things

drown in shallows of ego's hubbub

NOTE
The philosopher Walter Benjamin's comment on Kafka's writin was the inspiration for this
poem

Hours of Operation

These are the busy
hours of hubbub operation
but they do not interest me

I am interested
in the after hours quiet

What it is to be a crow's
nest, overlooking a town,
in perfect silence.

Premium Member A Solution For Keeping Resolutions

I've never understood the hubbub
from so many members of the club
of those who can't keep resolutions

I have always found mine easiest to keep
buried in a drawer near where I sleep

Professor Doctor Hubbub

Acid Metaphoric was overused
Professor Doctor Hubbub was confused
"It might have been stolen
Or it might have swollen"
With tabby cats Professor Hubbub schmoozed

in the shadow of yesteryear-
                                       distortions paralyse to-day's dream
whispered rumours of true things-
drown in the shallows of egos' hubbub
and hidden,almost invisible-
                                      wait prurience,cloaked in desire

Play Hooky

Today decided to
Play hooky from
All responsibility
Took a mental health
Day away from the hubbub
Of the societal rat race
Took time out to set back
And take a lode off my tired feet
Took a day out of the busy week to
Take a step aside along the road
To stop and smell the flowers
That we often take for granted

Premium Member Breeze Through Poetry

Amidst the chitter chatter, The cool breeze blows, In the hubbub of life, Poetry freely flows; Listen to its sweet murmur, Reaching you through the din, As the breeze touches you, Tingling your skin; Jot down the soft words, Slowly as they come, Smile as it refreshes you, In this dull humdrum. 08/22/18

Xiv: Forced Excursion Again

Sir –
Late in the noon as usual
Came the vergers with the sharp bells
(Prof, a roused lad saw not the Vicar)
Announcing another blessed excursion;

Of course, Sir –
The endemic hubbub
Reigned in the nest
To be vacated in a hurry;

And the piecing bells
Hinted of the swords in the rafter
Plunged in full poise by pig-watcher
(Prof, a roused lad saw the inscription)
‘Flee, meet the siren at midnight else!’

Premium Member Distant City Lights

Distant city nights,
Those faraway lights,
On the eastern border;
Colored lights quarter.

There should be hubbub,
And people club to club;
Dancing nights of August,
Music mellow and robust!

To that far, dreamy place,
With life's quicker pace,
Excitement is now calling,
And my heart is falling!

Those far neon lights burn,
As some observe and yearn;
Glowing colors of the night,
Under the silvery moonlight.

To Prepare For Club

Start from you bathtub,
Next, sweet creams to rub
But skin first towel,
This handling quite well,
On one’s face powder
For praises louder…

Then, your clothes put on
Besides your slip-on,
Fast, good belt fasten
But you don’t this hasten
And skip a sewn hold,
As though one is old…

From your used bath tub
To your enthused club
Some food better grub
Against a hubbub…

In a vulgar club
They do eaters snub.

Premium Member I'm Only Dreaming

In the midst of hubbub, at the verge of one hectic June,
I see myriad diamond stars, and ruby sun under the moon,
As viewed from a planet of jade green with sapphire blue,
Covered by pearly clouds, vanishing in moon's silver hue!

But I am only dreaming, for it is the middle of the day,
And from sunshine I have wandered, into night's doorway,
And the golden sun has set behind the scenes in my mind,
Only to reemerge as I wake, leaving night's riches behind!

Premium Member From Our Deck-Front In December

From
our pink deck with a Jarra cocktail table-set
We sit awaiting sunset with an
 ‘Hawaiian absence’ of seagulls
As dusk comes with violet echoes
across the spotted water,
from the resturaunts
comes a wine hubbub - table- laughter

Mountains, marshmallowed
in occasional cloud on this still night-
constant torchlight on quiet water
un-moving palms, paddle sounds

A swanky stingray drifts past

A shadowed water taxi
and strangers who wave at us

Frequenting Night Clubs

Frequent surfacing in night club
And the Lion sprouts from a cub
Soon, you cease to be submissive:
Life begins to be permissive.
With others you may shoulders rub
Sometimes, sincere courtesies snub.
A used-to-be-meek aggressive,
At inconstancy progressive....

In night clubs be sure of hubbub,
The filthiest thoughts served perfumed dub
Yet, life here should be extensive;
Clubs heal could The Hypertensive:
Others are asleep you are awake
And, for the fun of it, sometimes rake.

CIRCUS IN TOWN

CIRCUS

The big top towers
stilt walking clown welcomes one...
happiness assured.

 CLOWN

With teardrops falling
children uncomfortable...
head in lion’s mouth.

KNIFE THROWER

The hubbub crowd pause
blade glistens in the spotlight...
anxiousness relieved.

HIGH WIRE

Life’s giddy balance
on the tight rope overhead...
one’s ambitions met.

LION TAMER

The slash of the whip
controls the snarl of the wild...
giant *****cat.
