Not possessing such weapons
for our own protection

Author's note: I've met several people who own these weapons and love shooting them. Would they be willing to give up this privilege (and restrict their shooting to standard street guns) in order to make the rest of us and our schools a bit safer? I get that it would constitute a huge sacrifice on their part. OMG—the horror!...
