Crime of Passion
I’ll ransack the caging golden towers,
Slip your hands from the twines of forlorn hours;
Spirit you to fields ‘neath conspiring stars,
Coif your hair with a headdress of flowers....

Art Deco Woman
Art deco dictates a strong womanly arrogance
Her orange hair accented her headdress true
I saw her in a vision dream, of course only once
She parades herself in a painting, looking haughty and new....

So Said a Potiguara Indian
"They cut my leaves,
they cut my trunk
they dropped my headdress,
But they didn't pull out my roots...
So I went on living"...!

Butterfly Girl
She arrived at the garage sale
wearing a feathered headdress
She wore a rainbow tutu
Her tights matched her faerie wings
She said hello to all of us
Delighted with everything
We gave her more than she bought
Loving her enthusiastic thank yous...

Woman With Feathered Headdress
Woman with the blue feathered headdress, what is your name?
You have such a concentrated look, I think you must have some fame.
Your eyes are familiar, you are exotic, marvelous, majestic and fine.
You must have grown on the loins of a gorgeous gracious goddess’s vine....

Crow Chief and His Headdress
Crow chief adorned with the whitest eagle feathers
Brought to him piecemeal by tribal elders and hunters
Constructed in a loving way by wise women of the tribe
Worn with pride at evening council fires and ceremonies
Eagle headdress striking fear in enemies of Crow
Giving him an extra boost when they were on the warpath...

Sassy and Sultry From the Twenties
Sassy and sultry from the twenties
Not these twenties, those twenties.
She shows an arrogance unseen for a century.
I am in love with her pearled quail feathered headdress.
Vibrant and alive, she wows me in the best of ways.
Her art deco owl oversees her unique awesomeness.
I feel pride as her artist. She is the ultimate in sass!...

The Whiff Was Something Else Now
Miss Maisy cow with a floral headdress crown
You are ever so gorgeous, all the way around
Never have we seen a prettier bovine than you
Too bad your cow pie has stuck to my shoe.
It was okay until I tried to pry it off.
Some old lady was wheezing with a hard cough.
Whew! The whiff was something else now.
Allergic to perfume, from Miss Maisy Cow....

Wolf Heart Woman
Wolf Heart Woman is gorgeous and confident
She exudes a mystical quality that frightens many
Her stylish headdress was constructed by Sky Mother
She ruthlessly pursues women of other tribes
Teaching them new dangerous ways of thinking
Increasing their passion for independence and freedom
The men of other tribes cringe as she rides toward them in battle
Knowing who her captives will be...

Twisted Garden
She has Ivy twisted in her hair, day-lilies sprouting from the palms of her hands.
She dances with the willows, but she cries with the sun-sanken land.
She lets the daisies dance around her feet, with honeysuckle dripping from the corners of her mouth,
her peonies perking to point due south.
She is garland, oh sweet garland, a beautiful twisted mess,
she is daylight, the sun glowing, in a golden headdress....

had never seen this before
Had never seen a white tiger chief with headdress before
Commanded the room when he walked in the door
His feathers were stupendous, from an eagle so mighty
His walk was a strut, his tail was moving like royalty tidy
What is his name? The Apaches asked, fearing this cat.
It might be Chief White Cloud, said a squaw named Tit Tat.
He had an air about him that commanded the entire room.
We watched him most carefully, some of us from a broom....

Morgana
Morgana is arrogant and frosty, difficult to like
She comes wearing armor said enemy, headdress a spike
Her unicorn will be wearing a floral cape of course
Way too pretty to be mixed up for any common everyday horse
Morgana is ruthless, all enemies better be alert and beware.
With her own people, however, she shows incredible care.
I was tired of what this stranger was saying about my sister that day.
So I got my sword out and banished him swiftly away....

its crazy its wild
She did not like being plain, so she dyed her hair green.
It’s crazy, it’s wild! It makes you seem more like a teen!
These cheers were coming from her excited pets.
A queen cobra of tangerine, orange, and pink named Bets.
A bird with a red headdress and a colorful purple neck.
A calico cat who crept away most nights, and came home a wreck.
“It is so likeable, I may copy your look, said her dog Mag.
She rolled her eyes, as she noticed he was dressed in drag....

A Gray Light Sparkles
Branches thatch a spackled sky.
Snow lays itself down
to sleep lightly.
An airborne coyote-itch addles
drops of sunlight
until they drizzle.
Splatters of graying-green
on the hairy chops of groundhogs
as they scrape up a scant buffet.
One Scarlet Cardinal bobs,
its ruby flounced headdress
scattering scads of frost.
Winter shucks its hoary hide,
stepping through a muddy mirage
of Spring.
Fanged winds pounce.
Puddles of rain return to ice.

Beautification Beans
Breathing space of time and place. Wishing waiting wanting wantonly. And a fried ham. Jellied eels do not erode in a milky ju. And segment of an oiled asparagus is not very funny for a spoon who arrives in a headdress at a ballroom. To tell a time off is to deny a denounced pink and purple acolyte of a flower . Bud then. Bead then. Braking beaming bombing being bringing basins. Hahahaha and now a chat to a cloth. Hahahaha and a jumping scarf doing the can can dance. Xxxx beautification z...

The Tree That Gave Up
I spent myself on you,
one million dollars
blown away like dry leaves
in a careless breeze.
I am empty;
I can afford to give you
no more.
I sacrificed myself for you,
my feathered headdress gone,
my heart in the jar that you left
on the shelf of forgetfulness.
I am hollow;
I moan in despair
and collapse on myself.
I lost myself to find you,
reduced to a nameless piece of wood
while you flourished
under my stolen light.
I am absent;
do you wish
I were present?...

Art Deco Costumes Why Not
Let’s make art deco Halloween costumes this year, she said.
What are they? I asked. I do not like spending a lot of extra time.
Do a little research, she suggested. You’ll figure it out.
The easiest costume I saw was probably for a flapper.
I put fringe around the bottom of a short straight nightie.
Fashioned a headdress out of a piece of dog leash braid.
I felt like Julie Andrews in the movie Thoroughly Modern Millie
Except she probably had not worn Sketchers, but what the heck....

she bowed her head in shame
he marveled
and stood fast
and she covered her eyes

thinking her lover

Bio
Kentucky Derby Weekend At Church
They wore their Kentucky Derby headdress hats into the church.
The minister knew that no one would be seeing him that day.
He liked conducting a sermon the weekend of the Derby.
He did not have to comb his hair or brush his teeth.
Wise people sequestered behind the hats stopped struggling to see.
Resigning themselves to the fact that it was a hopeless quest.
Aha! They all saw the disheveled reverend on their way out.
Commenting later at Sunday dinner that his hair stuck straight up....

Two Glamorous Barbies
Here they come, the glamor divas with fabulous clothes.
Who will stay the latest is a tossup, none of us knows.
Gemini is wearing a glitzy headdress sprinkled with rhinestones.
Georgia is setting up the slam to awe us with her brilliant poems.
Gemini’s red satin gown is made by Bob Mackie naturally.
Low cut and scintillating it makes a splash on reality TV.
Georgia is throwing out metaphors in a fabulous display.
We are thrilled to feature these Barbies at Christmas Tree Cafe...
