Vagrant thoughts
Hang about the corners
Of my mind
Idly tormenting each other
Daring
At least one
To take hold
Take shape
Cast a shadow
On the unknown.

Lullaby IV

I wish, one time, to ride
across the years to you
upon the back of the coal black mare
whose hooves are indigo hue

once there I’ll hang about your neck
hold you fast to me;
make you swear on our true love
you’ll ne’er return to the sea....

Dangling
There is a site
just here,
yes, here. Somewhere.
I hover, dangle, hang about,
just here.
You can hold a mouse,
press it just here, or just here,
and you hear a click.
It may even squeak.
A mouse does so, so much.
Such a sight
on this site.
Sometimes it’s light
or often a fright.
But such a sight
on this site.
Oh, such a site!

Dedicated To My Friend
Never talk to strangers I did it one day I was just walking around When this dude said hey I didn't know who he was But I responded in kind Then he tagged along with me Not that I would really mind I took him to my friends Then we started to hang out Even when I wasn't there He seemed to hang about A goofy person he is Although a friend is what he can be No matter what happens He's a best friend to me

Cottons Southern Man
More than a man, the south made.
Black and white, south one started,
great oaks refused no man a child
to hang about it, call dark christmas.
Hallow was a name, old now hollow.
Stigma inside wears grey cotton
memories, alive die uncompensated.
Here, electricity has that sick sweet
smell about it, as if it were once alive.
While morality, debates in pockets
of isolated votes packed together.

Fledlings
Sea-Gull-chicken

The two baby gulls II have been watching
Have grown rapidly in the last few days
Today they are out flapping their wings
Not quite daring to fly.
Over the circle the mother gull. shrieks
A warning, but it could also have said, fly
You little bastards I will not feed you more.
They hang about on the roof the world is
Such a big place.
Tottering back to their nest behind
The chimney, perhaps tomorrow, I like
To be there when they fly....

You Should Get Married
Hop on the bus
To go across town
To see my friend Gus
Cause he is so down

I know he just needed
To hang about
So that’s why I heeded
And took the guy out

After a drink
He started to smile
He turned a bright pink
And stared for awhile

It seemed a girl
Had caught his eye
He gave her a twirl
Then he started to cry

The tears of joy
Were there to stay
He was like a boy
Who wanted to play

Now he is married
And never is sad
You should get married
So you’ll be as glad...
