autocorrect has a mind of its own,
attacks my words down to the bone,
gremlins from jabborwocky join the fun,
playing with my words as if a pun.
Like an addled cuckoo that garbles
the birdsong that he warbles,
I've experienced many strains.
I've got gremlins in my brains,
and I've lost my marbles.
Monarch faerie frolicking amongst the friendly forest fey
Counting elves, imps, gremlins, and brownies as friends
Dancing with lively, lithe little steps, appealing to most
Gremlins, gnomes, a leprechaun and thee imps
Walked into a bar owned by some chimps
Ate too many chips
Weight went to their hips
They rolled out later, looking like blimps
grimy gremlins gathered in a gloomy glade
giggling guzzling grapeade they’d greedily made
with gadgets gone wild
and gizmos defiled
they gambled on games with tricks they’d displayed
I love the world of gremlins and fairies
But I must watch out for dragons, they're scary
They eat human beings
At a rate unforeseen
Been losing control of my tract urinary
I love the world of gremlins and fairies
But I must watch out for dragons, they're scary
They eat human beings
At a rate unforeseen
I'm even losing control of my tract urinary
If you see gremlins on Halloween... DUCK!
Hide from vampires looking for blood to suck
It's such a spooky night
Werewolves and zombies bite
If possessed by demons you've run amuck!
A squirrel with a penchant for pine
stashed acorns in spots only gremlins could find.
When winter winds blew,
it shrugged, “Not a clue~
I stashed them where the sun don’t shine.”
Floating under the surface,
stones weighting my body,
gremlins and goblins
are hobbling my soul;
I'm full to o'erflowing,
my faculties failing,
I'm one with the fishes,
I've found my way home.
Gorillas grow growly gruffy grouchy grampas
Giving grateful gremlins grassy growth plates
Glassy glistening glowing glaring glimmers of globes
Groovy grizzly gristleworms gracefully grifting grandmas
Grandiose grimlets grabbing growling gracious grates.
Floating under the surface,
stones weighting her body,
gremlins and goblins
were hobbling her soul;
she's full to o'erflowing,
her faculties failing,
she swam with the fishes
and found her way home.

...an epitaph for Virginia Woolf
...for Virginia Woolf
Submerged 'neath the surface,
stones weighting her body,
gremlins and goblins
are hobbling her soul.
Images jar,
and memories jostle,
her compass is gone
but she's in full control.
Lungs overflowing,
her faculties failing,
she's one with the fishes,
at last she is whole.
...for Virginia
Floating under the surface,
stones weighting her body,
gremlins and goblins
are hobbling her soul.
Images jar,
memories jostle,
her compass is gone
yet she's in full control.
Full to o'erflowing,
her faculties failing,
she's one with the fishes,
at last she is whole.
...for Virginia
Floating under the surface,
stones weighting her body,
gremlins and goblins
are hobbling her soul.
Images jar,
and memories jostle,
her compass is broken,
she's out of control.
She's full to o'erflowing,
her faculties failing,
she's one with the fishes,
she's found her way home.
Floating under the surface,
stones weighting her body,
gremlins and goblins
were hobbling her soul;
she's full to o'erflowing,
her faculties failing,
she swam with the fishes
and found her way home.

Author Notes
...an epilogue for Virginia Woolf
Worn limbs creak like tomb's ancient doors
Jumping from youth to old age with lightning's shock
Kind mirrors with mounting dust blur lines
Leaping into my shopping cart are restorative skin creams
Before gremlins make off with them, memories visit briefly
…What was it I was trying to say?

For Nina's "Reflect That Emotion" Contest
Today the gremlins return to me
Sneaking up to bite so nastily
Breathe deeper yet still
Trying to fill
Consume that space within
Before those bastards can get back in
Too late they have invaded
Left me wilted jaded
Still I run as if i coukd vanquish their existence
! Dam the resistence!
Trying to not drown in this sea of strife.
To live and survive this up life
invasive hellish Cimmerian infernal fire
making a prophetic rise toward a quagmire
illuminating graves on Hallows Eve night
ghouls, ghosts and gremlins creeping out of sight
witches and warlocks casting transformation spells
forgotten skeletons shrieking from cold, dark wells
foggy air heavy with remnants of dismal dreary gloom
frightening shadows causing the wayward weak to swoon
Why are my searches drawing blank
I just searched for Constance La France
It simply tanked ' Is cancellation afoot?
Are there gremlins in 'the soup' its moot'
So many time in months of thrice
I've sought out my peers yet (no dice)
Michael Tor I can't find your door
Andrea Deitrich pangi Bill Baker and more
To top the lot my contest launched
I couldent find it? Friends so staunch.'
In the moonlight almost midnight
clearly witching hour is nearly here
time for ghosts gremlins goblins ghouls
beware the phantoms but have no fear
don't take candies or sweets
from strangers you will meet
as there be scary zombies
out there on the streets
and if you don't believe
then when trick or treating
ask and ye shall receive
for tonight is All Hallows' Eve
Listen not to the bell, my friends
Shut your ears this night,
Take my advice, just being nice
It's the hour of scary sights
Should you be assertive
And stubborn your admission,
Opening the door, a decision poor,
Will bare grizzly apparitions
Ghosts and gremlins, short and tall,
Will grin behind sheet and mask,
If it happens you are one of them,
I'm so sorry that I asked
Form:
Halloween gremlins three arrived at eight
Are we late? They asked. Are we late?
I knew they were ready to go trick-or-treating.
Right on time I told them, in the way of greeting
They got lots of cheers going house to house as three
inhabitants thought they were in costume; oh my, oh, me
I knew they were from wicked Ville way down under
But I said nothing, not wanting to steal anyone’s thunder
Finery Winery resides down Amble Bramble Road
they make vintage bubblies created by old Todd Toad
His ideas are unique, his packaging is more than fine
His tasting rates are posted, somewhere down the line
Wizards, warlocks and gremlins travel out to his place
Once I noted a visitor from elsewhere, possibly outer space
Old Todd Toad’s reputation is beyond this planet now
His drinks are unique; many say “a big fat wow!”
Grotesquely scary witches clustered in their coven,
Fricasseeing chickens, their green arms tightly woven.
Agitated ghouls and gremlins, hearing warning owl’s hoot,
Began a little brawl at Angry Elm’s October root.
Foraging bats glided in for a better swooping look.
White fluorescent ghosts announced they had come to cook.
Faeries, elves, pixies and sprites quickly were unseen.
Welcome to Haunted Hollow. This is Halloween.
