My Old Walking Stick
A old tree branch that had fallen to the ground
Polished it up, mended all the cracks, looking good as new
Now we can both walk...

I do not know?
A Gallon of Coffee
The hours tick off
I know every one
Familiar their chimes
until the day dawns...
Crawl out of bed in the morning
though not 'good as new'
A gallon of coffee ~
may yet see me through...

Vignette-We Seek It Here
Outside an inn ..tap,tap,tap
In hobbled Bind Pugh with his map
A story of intrigue did then ensue
On a remote island which comes into view-
A classic novel, still reads good as new
Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson...

A Broken Ornament How I fixed It
An ornament fell
Quickly to the floor
An angel object
She holds a lantern
Held held high in her hand
When the angel fell
The lantern came off
When the angel fell
I grabbed the scotch tape
Now the angel fixed
She is good as new...

That's Entertainment
Magic saw cuts assistant in two
Pretty lady emerges good as new
Magician pulls hankie from hat
Dove flies away
He tells you your name, DOB,
even your fortune
The man rakes in the money ~

Knee Repair
Knee Repair
The joint’s as good as new -
two little screws in a shiny metal plate
and she’s back in business.
It wasn’t as bad as all that.
He only meant to get her down
on her knees, down so she had
to look up at him, down so she
knew her place....

Daft - Happy Chappie
Happy Chappie had a lightbulb brain wave
Thinking his idea some time he would save
Usually when he went out and about
He forgot his way back without any doubt
Thought if I butter well my outdoor shoe
I'm sure to retrace as good as new
Unexpectantly he had a good ride
Whooshing along on his sole slip and slide...

As Good As New
L-ovely lines from your lips
O-pen the dawn again;
R-epeated sound of phrases
I-s never going to end.
L-iving quote from long ago
I-s refreshing to the mind;
E-very old similar song shows the joy one can find.
D-ay thirty of August
I-s seen in the same view;
T-hose words that you always say
A-re as good as
N-ew....

Shattered
I am but glass, you have but broken
With words both shouted and unspoken
You throw me up against the wall
Just so you can watch me fall
If I'm cracked it's not enough
I must be shattered to show your tough
Grab a broom, sweep up myself
Put my pieces on the shelf
Search and search to find some glue
Don't worry I'll be good as new...

Old Truck
The seat are worn
Sit on the springs
Heater doesn’t work
In winter freeze
Floor all rusted
See the ground
Door held closed
With a piece of wire
Windows don’t roll
Rear one is done
All it really needs
Is a new engine
Drop in a block
It’ll fix every thing
Be good as new
That’s all that it needs...

Broken
Broken windows, broken doors, holes in the walls, glass on the floors.
Two broken people with two broken hearts, maybe these two are better off apart.
For broken wings make it hard to flyand not all broken things heal with time.
For broken is not the true finality but in my case a very sad reality.
Still in the end I will be as good as new knowing I will never be as broken as you.

Meet Us At the Pond
Meet us at the pond says the fairy and the elf.
I cannot leave yet because my wife is stuck on the shelf.
This was said by the mouse, who lived in a cracker house.
Come on! Said the faerie, we can go on without mouse.
No! Said the bullfrog, I will help his wife get down.
The syrup fell off the shelf too and the bullfrog was brown.
We’ll take a fast dip, and you will be as good as new.
This was said by the mouse and his wife, her name was Little Lou....

The Key Got Stuck
The key got stuck inside the lock
Securing our son's door.
We turned and twisted but
It wasn't budging anymore.
The locksmith took a bit of time
But finally arrived
Since we were, from that entrance,
Most annoyingly deprived.
He nailed the problem 1 - 2 - 3
(The cylinders were jammed)
And now the door is good as new,
Just waiting to be slammed.
Emergencies are costly -
That we really can't debate
And that is why the bill's
$143 (dot) 88!...

The Show
Make it fresh. Beautiful and new.
Blur sharp edges but keep a few.
Keep it fresh. Keep it clean.
As good as new, new and pristine.
Shine it up and make it glow.
So proud now, you make a show.
People come and see your work.
Some will smile some will smirk.
After all have come and gone.
No longer you like a single one.
What was fresh and seemed so new.
Doesn't seem such a great view.
You go back home, pride is lost.
The show came with too much cost....

In the Eyes of a Child
We were once, but are no more-
heroes in the eyes of a child-
heroes that could mend all things.
Daddy it broke- can you fix it?
Sure honey, it will only take a little glue-
by tomorrow
it should be good as new.
All too quickly we are found out-
dads can’t fix everything-
and heroes all have feet of clay.
It’s easy to fix a broken toy-
how does a father mend a broken heart?
It takes more than a little glue-
and good as new tomorrow-
just doesn’t do....

Taming the Fire
Taming the fire
By Michelle Morris
27/09/2020
When your world is on fire and
they're watching it burn,
enjoying the flames and
your torture internal...
Remember that it will pass,
as all things do,
and when the flames go out,
you'll be as good as new...
A phoenix risen,
powerful and mighty;
no one can touch you,
you're above it and flying...
And they will never
be as strong -
For taming the fire is only
For the special ones...

Summer Celebration
Sweet sounds drifting through the air,
causing happiness everywhere.
Flowers bloom and sunshine shows,
all happiness seems to glow.
Adults and children join and gather,
the air is filled with joyful chatter.
Birds are chirping and skies are blue,
everything is perfect, good as new.
Picnics on the fresh, green grass,
everyone toasts with a glass.
Songs and dances through the night,
everything seems to be just right.
Cheers to you and cheers to me,
we're all a big happy family....

Powerless
POWERLESS
Cleansing my fridge -
Old , cold and unplugged - dead
White was its original color
Now stained with marks from the past
Nothing is forgotten, nothing is hidden
All decay is preserved in the cold
Each mark remains as it was
Nothing escapes my attention, my judgement
Take it apart, scour everything,
Put it back together, good as new.
Cleansing my soul is more difficult
Stains cannot be removed
All is preserved, exposed for judgement
Not in my power to renew it...
