In the Eyes of a Child
We were once, but are no more-
heroes in the eyes of a child-
heroes that could mend all things.
Daddy it broke- can you fix it?
Sure honey, it will only take a little glue-
by tomorrow
it should be good as new.
All too quickly we are found out-
dads can’t fix everything-
and heroes all have feet of clay.
It’s easy to fix a broken toy-
how does a father mend a broken heart?
It takes more than a little glue-
and good as new tomorrow-
just doesn’t do.
