Held In a Hand
Man with a magic.
Glowering,evil-looking.
Some magic within.

Days and nights practiced.
Sometimes hungry, thirsty, parched.
Never giving up....

Angels (Glowering)
Angels with majesty sing out loud.
Foolish antics drawing a great crowd.
Some cast down to the fiery below.
Others remained. It's these that glow....

The Fire Within
I can feel it glowering
Slow is the burn
Just simmering low
Deep down in my soul
It threatens to burst out
And to loose control

The fire has always been there
Even when beaten down
Threatening to be smothered
But it still burns
And it waits.....

Premium Member Winter Dirge
The earth is cold
distant fires burn--
icy arrows
pierce my sullen body
and the emptiness
becomes unbearable.

Without her
the wind
is my enemy
and the glowering
sky suggests
her absence.

I seek warmth
in my moribund cave
thawing my brain with firewater
waiting for the
alienating glaciers
to thaw....

Dreams
Confused arising
Seeking, searching, scrutinizing. . .
Succeeding.
Conniving, cutlasses, smirking swords;
Silently mocking, laughing at my doom.
Glaring, glowering, with a gleam in their eye.
Eerie eye patches, sneering smiles;
Sinisterly scheming, anticipating gloom.
Creeping, crawling, cringing. . .
Complete.
Concrete awakening....

From my bathroom throne
		I overlook heads of trees
		men for all seasons
		who sway and still
		like felt and feathered burghers
		dependent on his lordship’s
		words.

		In glowering times
		they cloak themselves in mist,
		hiding like fleshless nerves
		from courts and kings
		and the kings’ best choristers
		the birds....

Grey Sentinels
All embracing swirling cloud

Below a leaden sky.

A fleeting glimpse of hidden fells,

Shadows, reaching high.

Towering grey sentinels,

Guardians of the land.

In the cloud, and glowering gloom

Unerringly they stand.

Oh but when revealed to us

Beneath a cobalt sky,

Ne'er has such beauty fell

Before a mortal eye....

Stars
Stars ~ swept across the sky to where you are,
swept across the plain, like some full field in flowering,
swept across my mind, like newness towering ~

My love, some gracious airing, spacious and of powering,
as nothing hindering for its devouring,
and then it is at last, the truth so scouring ~

That love itself, consumes the lovers ~ glowering!...

Freedom In A Cup Of Coffee
Self, is near—
From that internal glowering;
A night before. A.M. vague
Made the habit—
Now all's up in the sandy mist

Settling around me, as
The morning blooms open up to my reverie, while
I number odds in cafe grounds.
(Peak of perfection)
I'm swelling inside.

Saved to just be me
In the jolt—
Tender, random, heated;
Pushing on the planet; I'm now following
Its orbit, finally....

Burnt Verse: Patchwork
A glowering patchwork of a man
          Chin like the Yucatan
Edges his oak-soaked way toward me
          Imitating nightmares
Bitter cedar emanating from him
          In cringing solvent snares

On his lips is a fusion of shame
          In cauterising flame
Falling porcelain leaves surround us
          Autumn exudes the past
The fugue of memory no chasm
          Our speech returns at last...

I live my life
on paper trails.

It stacks
back to back
in glowering towers.

It crouches and glares
in menacing reproach

or slides, glides
and scatters far and wide.

It clutches and hides
treasures, just beyond my reach.

It comes to me on rubber wheels
and leaves in black plastic bags
or dies in the shredder.

Put your ink to paper
and send it on to me.

Perhaps your words
will wrestle their way
into my heart.

Perhaps not....

Every Bum In Our Slum
I know like a solvable sum
Every Samson’s riddle bum
Roaming our banal slum
Besides my tricky chum
With his insincere dum-dum–dum!
Not in his favor
His ear- assaulting chewing gum,
A thing to not savor
His disquieting rum…

If not slapping some drum,
Strangers asking where they came from,
Glowering at the seemingly dumb.
Sometimes, touching tunes does hum
But with a face decidedly glum
And not infrequently hitting his mum
For recklessly postponing his plum.

Premium Member The October Sun
How bright and jovial is the summer sun
Promising life and fertility
How different the October one
Dealing death and aridity
No longer do we espy a golden glow
Now there is but a dark blood red orb hanging low
Cyclopean with its brooding ,glowering glare
Sinister in its Saturnine stare
It is but the harbinger of a deathly gloom
There to lead Persephone down to her Plutonian tomb
There she will,with Demeter's reluctant assent,stay
Until the shoots of spring come out to play....
