Other
On Boondoggle street
thrives a magic store
anyone who enters disappears
except the old dear
who minds the counter
who never enters or leaves
whose eyes are sharp as twin tacks.

Gatekeeper
The gatekeeper whose
golden house’s roof reflects
off the sun at noon
A torch or a lighthouse for
The fearless midnight watchman

Keeper at the gates, why do you hide from me
i've been broken, now you offer up the key
can i tempt you with my honest declaration
or must i solve your riddles,
'til you reveal yourself to me

we human
Think
a dumb wise
Mean nice
As long as we remain fine
Destruction is the new invention
Terminator our latest protector
Stalker the new gatekeeper
Thinking that he will keep us safer

A faraway coast
The coldest of wars
A frontline post
Flying machines with whirly blades
and painted on red stars
search in vain for a ghost
Tension was high
In the waters off Kamchatka Krai

Verse
Just like humans, Janus
Juxtaposes two sides
Jared in the same vessel,
Just the name, “gatekeeper”,
Jettisons his salient
Justly potent power,
Janus is lord of time.

Conversed today with my ninety-year-old sister
Now that's longevity, perhaps I should whisper
Case pearly gatekeeper's asleep
The great benefits she'd reap
Could be the gatekeeper might be into the liquor

Conversed today with my ninety-two-year-old sister
Now that's longevity, perhaps I should whisper
Case the gatekeeper's asleep
The great benefits she'd reap
Or maybe the gatekeeper could be into the liquor

no one may enter and
no one may leave but here
no one is a stranger
the leftover bread of feasts
tossed out onto the street
claimed by birds and beggars
a generous host should know
that any wall is only as tall
as its watchman

I do not know?
a roar a purr
i am the gatekeeper
of my heart
of what goes in
and what comes out
a big overgrown lion
i roar mostly i purr

I wept until the bronzed edge of twilight
chased prismed light from pastel skies.
A shroud of gloom veiled my heart
as the gatekeeper touched my arm.

Every voice needs an ear
for it to be free
Every writer, a reader,
or the words cease to be
In my case I’ve been lucky
though she came to me late
For my dearest sweet Laura

through years
we amass
collections
they’re only things
dust collectors
we call them clutter
although
each one's unique
holds a story
and a little piece
of our heart

Hypervigilant are both dogs
Fat and juicy, built like farm hogs
They are in a huge pen with plenty to do
Do they know that I, their gatekeeper, is watching them too?
I am vastly aware how fast they are
As I open the gate, not far from a car
Being knocked down by the front gate
Is pretty often now my fate

twas the night,
forsaken to see,
another angel,
calls to he.
He who walks,
through desolate skies,
teaching young angels,
how to fly.
Blowing the wind,
beneath their wings,
keeping them aloft,
for everyone to see.
This is the man,
who controls all fate,
the one who lets,
people through his gates.

my needs are simple
when isolated
from my wants
it took a while
to realize
my many wants
were mere
obstructions
preventing me
from
focusing
on my dreams

Sorry, I don’t want to latch
I love to be free and detached
Who would like a creeper
Who would become your heart’s gatekeeper
I would rather choose a solitary life
And keep away from all the strife
Of your loneliness make no bones
Its good to sometimes be alone
It's ok to feel disconnected
It's God’s way of leaving you
composed and collected

the dream’s
to make
a difference
an impact
in someone’s life
to spark
that twinkle
in their eye
and stir
the passion
in their heart

a poem
is much
like a dream
captured
in ink
on paper
then
given wings
to roam
the sky

alone in my backyard
in total silence
seems so surreal
the humming of
homebound traffic
far in the background
while songs of birds
are all I hear
not a soul in sight
the world surely
is on pause

A wish been granted, killed,
Against the laws of nature
He that demanded, willed
Life into inanimate stature
Yet another cliche instilled
A wish upon a star, gatekeeper
Of life caught napping, whistles trill
Loss and pain, nature of fear
The puppet learns to keep his heart still
The puppet breaks with human tears
"Pinocchio..." She said, fervent
"Tell me... Was it all worth it?"

Sonnet
the silence is surreal
the calm before the storm
a reprieve to be cherished
knowing it won’t last
how I long to prolong
and stretch it
make it linger
have it engulf me
swallow me
to lose myself
in its serenity
