Splash!
Rain
Pours down
My galoshes
Become stuffed with feet
As I ready myself to
Jump into all the mud puddles on my street...

Gosh
Nauseous Natasha’s cautious sister Sasha’s posh boss
Josh McIntosh from Osh Kosh
Sloshed through the marshes sporting galoshes
Looking for his lost hoss Ross
By gosh...

Save Your Brain
The old mind is a terrible thing to waist
It's also a very difficult thing to replace
So treat it with care
Cover it with hair
And make sure you wear galoshes just in case...

Rainy Play Day
Slosh Sploshes
in my Galoshes
reveling in the rain
Muddle Muck
I am a Duck
and cannot be contained
Flap Slap
something Madcap
waddling soaking wet
My mother says
I am the Muddiest
thing she has ever met!...

Welcome Spring
a gentle rain falls
newly budding trees
new grasses appear
pink crocuses up
warmer weather now.
shedding sweaters
sandals appear
time for new lambs
a quick road trip.
stow away
galoshes
and mittens.
enjoy
welcome

Rain Dance
rain dance
Evil takes his victory lap
while ashes like confetti fall.
But demons stay their hands mid-clap,
now doubting they’ve won, after all...
For on the charred and war-stained sands,
Hope, in pink galoshes stands.

Red Umbrella
Red umbrella, pink raincoat and galoshes
Hopping from puddle to puddle, giggling after the splashes
Puppy dog, dolly, and wagon in tow
Raindrops, sunshine and a beautiful rainbow
Mommy and Daddy happy as they can be
Enjoying the rain with their little lady

In Green Skies
Pelting.
Stones among magnolia clouds
eating the day through holes
in a wish for the paper grey moths.
Hail and unencumbered beauty.
Dents in hoods and broken glass
in crackling spider web patterns
construed as nature's designs.
Melting.
Rain of grey sulking atmospheres
who feather their wings
around unwilling souls.
Sleep and the brooding sunset.
Puddles of iridescent oils
kissing yellow rubber galoshes
in an effort to make peace....

Our Senior Bus Trips
On bus trips for seniors, we go
to watch a film or music show
with walkers or cane
umbrellas for rain
galoshes in case there is snow!
Arrive and we waddle 'cross floor
and meet our trip guide by the door
we follow in pairs
pray hard for no stairs
just walking dead flat is a chore!
The show now begins with our cheers
we sit, fix the aids in our ears
adjust them for sound
yet music's still drowned
by those snoring loud in arrears!

Spring
March winds direct the weather vane
April showers water wheat and grain
May flowers grow on the lane
The mud splashes the mud sloshes
Kids wear raincoats and galoshes
Down the hill water washes
A newborn calf will join the herd
A nest is built by mama bird
A toddler says her first word
Green are the leaves upon the tree
Yellow’s the color of a bee
Spring roses are just for me

As I Wrote This
As I wrote this, upon my bed,
fumbling with words yet to be said,
I felt the chill of a spring day
next to glass painted winter gray,
and marveled how the seasons wed.
In galoshes, shiny and red,
kids splashed in puddles as they fled
from their front doors, to laugh and play,
as I wrote this...
I grew old never having bled.
Never left my butter and bread.
Observed the world from where I lay.
Life happened while I was away,
leaving my thoughts and weaving thread,
as I wrote this......
