Sleeveless
bare shoulders ripple
straining with unseen weight
scarred biceps bulge
saturated by interior rain
veins bursting forth
exploding from darkness
forearms swell abnormally
hiding suppressed emotion
fingers clutch frantically
for a heart shattering.........

To resist the op(press)ion
of the two (dement)sional flatland world of glossy magazines,
I have (ob)seen women

Mutilate their forearms with deep(er) strokes of a razor
So that they may prove with their b(lo)ody
To themselves and their (conf)users
That their image (has depth)

Has depth (their image

Has depth)...

Untitled #207 / My Face Is Sunburned Crimson
My face is sunburned crimson, the skin
on my forearms is peeling off, bruises
appear on my biceps, a red gash
gashes across the front of my shoulder, my calves
tighten, my thumb joint
makes it painful to write, I can’t really explain
what’s wrong with the side of my neck
but my heart feels good
for the first time
in twelve days....

The Dead Bird In My Garden
Shock;without motion you are a
Caricature of flight; a dry purse
Filled with small stones;bonesticks
In a bag,misplaced. S I must hide
My hands in garden gloves strange
With earthsweat and hardened by
Rain. And when I carry you it is a
Burial second-class. When you move,
Question, is it the tremor of my own
Forearms,or are you ready for flight,
Still full of air ?...

Loneliness
Carve out my arms and chest
The aching loss my forearms face
Hands lifted up to a god
Who stole the soul of an empty case

Shine a flashlight through the gap
Or into a hollow statue chest
Porcelain delicate echoing sounds
Pulled out and up to eternal rest

Hear me crying in the night
For I have lost my soul
Fill my arms and chest again
Please, just make me whole...

Finally They Notice
Death’s waves pushed me
Further and further to
The bottom of the black ocean.

Stopping sound and breath,
But allowing the tears that
Stained my face; and
The blood that stained
My forearms.

And everyone else stood
Above me and watched
They watched as I sunk
All the way to the bottom

But it was only until
I reached the bottom
Of Death’s ocean did
Everyone scream, and cry, and curse
Because only then did they realise
Just how close I was....

These Little Marks
These scars upon my forearms,
Remind me every day,
Of all the hurt I've gone ,
And how much I've had to change.

These little marks remind me,
Of all these fricken memories,
Of all the ways my life was ruined,
How most people aren't friendly.

Sometimes I wish I never did,
I wish I never cried,
But without all these little scars,
I never would have tried.

So in a sense I like my marks,
Of little memories,
Cuz all the trials made me stronger,
I'm who I'm sposed to be....
