Unflattering Echoes
.for public domain
My echoes return
from barren canyon walls,
absent of the flattery,
I often seek from mirrors.
flattery and compliments oozed out of her
she would apple polish a weirdo, a cur.
a suave sycophant of the nth degree
her nose as brown and smelly as an eye can see
Assign region flattery gauges?
Silly but let’s try anyway.
The Scottish slather it on.
The Germans withhold it.
It’s Irish blarney.
Overindulge
Compliment
Praise
It is you I am seeking for frost,
the icy balance to my flame;
Flow flickers into wildfire,
anchoring you to me;
Waltz of opposites,
full flattery
will upend
any
girl.
Flies buzz
mosquitoes sting
I try to whack them
they both have wings
Audiences roar
Politicians sing
The media attacks them
They duck the arrows, the slings
WORDS THAT TICKLE........
FLATTERY LAYING A SNEER..............
INTOXICATED..........
Carol dear Carol and her menagerie
Are always bestowing on me much flattery
Loyal to the core

Happily, they contain very few calories

He knows you love him
But he doesn't know
How to love you
Just like you do
So you say
He doesn't love you
Yet in his silence
His heart is split
Only for you
And in his noise
Its just flattery
sincere flattery
passion beyond the twilight
romantic daydreams
life lived for reason
compassion needed for ease
a deep connection

I know what a poem
looks like.
I know how to make
my prose look like verse.
A little tuck here,
an indent there,
et voila! It’s verse!
or worse ...
a pale imitation of seem.
(can I have some ice cream?)
Once there was a man called Hammer, the Don
the power of legislation to execute judgement he owns
his fort is full of "inhibitions" = "grudge"
his policy "no flattery only boasting" judge!
bloody this hammer should come to light.Done!
be authentic
be true
to the song
playing in your heart
there is no need
to contract consciousness
by betraying the muse
reverberating within
imitation as flattery
scars the soul
recognise and celebrate
your uniqueness
Imitation is sincere,
Flattery in every line,
DH inspires passion.
Words read so similar,
Anger ignites in me,
DH pestered to frustration.
I create havoc, slinging venom
Like tossing candy in a parade,
DH pays the price for my sin.
some puffed up pieces
malodorous in thesis
require fresh breezes

Still chuckling at Maurice Rigoler's The Art of the Short Poem.
To imitate: high form of flattery;
I flat in thy direction, matterly.
The peeping birds
agape up my psyche
towards the dateless
flattery cascade that fluxes
from the celestial
mountains into the
serene emerald ocean
and gives a concise meaning
to the life of a woodland man
who is lost in the fire
of the furious selfish world .
What more can one ask of solid friends
Who go beyond words to express their love?
With honesty barring flattery
Trusted enough, we keep one another's keys
Who look out for each other, like family

Ingrate by Adejola Joseph
Ingratitude of an ignorant
A daylight robber and abuser of opportunities
An ingrate is a time waster
A simple murderer
He doesn't appreciate
And when he does it is flattery
Helping an ingrate is like pouring water in the basket.
Ingrate.
The first time you kissed me, it was such a shock,
I literally saw time stop on the old kitchen clock.
But before you accuse me of over-the-top flattery,
let me assure you, it turned out to be just a dead battery.
And once replaced, time started again with the same old tick-tock.

Three daughters of King Lear. Cordelia would speak the truth. The other two killed the King with flattery winning an inheritance. They were traitorous thus a tragedy ensues.

A poem by my far away friend
inspired the following ditty
in the form of a sexet:
Jack did, Diane did not
Jack was much too hot!
Bodies on fire
with desire
The Earth
moved
Inspired by Christie Moses' Naughty Ditty.
Sorry Christie for this plagiarism
but it is the highest form of flattery!
indonesian beaches and
days of infinite hunger
drunk and repellent
I am again
there’s no time for fishy flattery
'cause god called a horseman
flogging a dead horse
outlaw of the oscillation nation
playing with matches
by the gas-works
and I have this foreboding
of foreign foods
and fishmonger hooks
There was an old sauce chef from Killarney,
Whose Irish stew, was flavoured with blarney.
While he quaffed bottles of hock,
That was infused with shamrock.
Which spiced up his special bouquet garni.

Listen to poem:
Oh I do like a good curry
spicy and hot,
with a lot of flavor,
fresh herbs and spices.
But I abhor your flattery
to fawn and curry favor
in vile ingratiation.
Such curry has a bitter flavour
and nips the bud of any favor sought.
It's a dish of foul curry and tainted rice,
topped with a sauce of greed and avarice.
