Hippopotamus
Oh! I’m very glad that I
Am not a Hippopotami
And should I ever get the choice
It’ll not be Hippopotamoice

Hunter
The Lion likes to stop and feast
Especially on Wildebeest
But if there’s not one to pursue
He’ll simply go and chase Gnu

Twins
If it were not for darkness
There could be no light
And without light
There can be no darkness
They are a pair
Conjoined twins
One cannot exist
Without the other

Botty Burp
If your bottom should start feeling ill at ease
And then blesses everybody with a sneeze;
Good people please take heart,
it was just a little fart
Which will soon be disappearing on the breeze

Unicorn
The story goes, so I’ve been told
Tales handed down from days of old
That when we die our soul migrates
And we’re transformed to other states
If that’s the case, when I’m reborn
I want to be a Unicorn

Desire
You are the one I’ve waited for
You are my hearts desire
You are the one I’m longing for
To quench this raging fire
This is the love I’ve dreamed of
To last eternally
You are my one true passion
My steaming mug of tea

Umbrellas
I’m learning how to fly
My Mummy says I’ll be outstanding
She say’s I need to do a little
Practice on my landing
She said to stay low level
And to use my common sense
So I’m practising by jumping
With umbrellas, off the fence

Unhappy Hour
You get a ghost inside the house
And all they do is groan
They terrify your kids and spouse
Complain a lot and moan
“Oh woe is me” their mournful cry
From dusk until the dawn
If they could give my life a try
They’d wish they’d not been born

Wellies
Wellington boots are useful things
You wear them on your feet
They’re good at keeping water out
But don’t retain the heat
So if you go out walking
Through puddles, streams and lochs
Take my advice, make sure you wear
Two pairs of woolly socks

Dyed In the Wool
There’s nowt so canny and nowt so deep
As the musings of the highland sheep
They’ll talk of this and talk of that
Of what they ate and where they shat
Or ponder on life’s mysteries
Like, is the grass beneath the trees
Much finer than the one that grows
Down beside the old hedgerows

Sheep In Thought
There’s nowt so canny and nowt so deep
As the musings of the highland sheep
They’ll talk of this and talk of that
Of what they ate and where they shat
Or ponder on life’s mysteries
Like, is the grass beneath the trees
Much finer than the stuff that grows
Down beside the old hedgerows

Evolution
Barking
Coughing
Growling
Snarling
Not a little
Loving
Darling
Six a.m and
Waking up
Looking for
His breakfast cup
Tea will wake
The addled brain
Make the man
Himself again
Showers shaves
Dons cologne
Giving hair
Final comb
Checking tie
Shoes to lace
Ready for
The human race

Tooth Fairy
What do the tooth fairies do with the teeth
They collect while you slumber at night
Where do they get all the money from
There’s just something that doesn’t sit right
Supposing one day there’s a shortage
Will fairies; scared of losing their job
Creep in your room while your sleeping
And steal the teeth out of your gob

Criminal
She smiled at me and asked me
“Can you spare some time
We’d like your true opinion
On criminals, and crime”
She asked me lots of questions
About the criminal classes
I told her what I thought
And how I’d kick their arses
I told her that I reckoned
These people were a curse
Then when she wasn’t looking
I ran off with her purse

Happy Birthday
Happy birthday Johnny, my word, you’ve had a few
With candles lit for every year you’d need a fire crew
You’ve had a lot of cards this time, far more than in the past
Perhaps they’re feeling guilty or, think this may be your last
So happy birthday Johnny, fill your glass and have a beer
Happy birthday Johnny, let’s drink to one more year

Certified
I think that someone should invent
(And I would be quite glad)
A painless little questionnaire
To check that your not mad
.
A simple twenty questions
Is all that it would take
To say you’re fairly normal
Or a crazy old fruitcake
.
If all the people filled one in
The results could be collated
We could have a central register
And get certificated

Norm'
He’s an ordinary person
With an ordinary life
With two ordinary children
And an ordinary wife
In an ordinary house
In an ordinary place
Drives an ordinary car
At an ordinary pace
In his ordinary suit
And his ordinary shirt
In an ordinary office
Does his ordinary work
He’s just mister ordinary
Every ordinary day
And he's extraordinary
In his ordinary way

My Word You Do Look Queer
You’re ninety two, well blow me down
I never would have guessed
You look so young and sprightly
And seem so full of zest
You’ve got your hair, its all your own
Your teeth are yours, not false
The way you talk, it’s obvious
Your mind’s intact, of course
What’s that you say, I’m sorry
Sometimes I can’t quite hear
It’s fifty two, not ninety
My word you do look queer

Sock Monster
The sock monster climbs up the waste pipe
And into your washing machine
He’ll hide up in a corner
To ensure he can’t be seen.
Then when you put you clothes in
And you’ve set the washers clock
He’ll dive into your washing
And select a single sock.
This special prize, he’ll carry off
To his secret monster lair
And share this tasty morsel
With his monster wife so fair.

Bucket List
I decided to write a bucket list
Things to do before I die
Experiences that I’ve never had
Or stuff, that I’d just like to try
So I sat down with my paper
And a pencil in my hand
Then tried to think of what to do, but
It never went quite how I’d planned
I couldn’t think of a single thing
That I would rather do
Than spend my last remaining years
At home, just me and you

Screamers
The most appalling thing to see
According to the likes of me
Is when abroad upon the street
A child that screams and stamps its feet
And parents who then try to quell
The ravings of the child from Hell

They attempt, in their entreaty
To appease, with toy and sweety, or
Promises of things to come
A brand new bike from dad and mum
So, parents do not plead or beg
Just slap the buggers round the leg

Hamster
Somebody’s stolen my hamster
It was there when I went up to bed
My sister is sitting there laughing
And saying my hamster is dead

She thinks that it’s ever so funny
That Hammy keeled over and died
Then she showed me where Hammy was buried
And I fell to my knees and I cried

The tears only lasted a minute
When a thought entered into my head
If my hamster has gone up to heaven
Can I have a new puppy instead ?

Refund
Don’t talk to me like I’m stupid
Don’t think I haven’t a clue
Don’t fob me off with excuses
Don’t tell me what I should do
You know that your product is faulty
You know that I have every right
You know that I want a full refund
You know that I don’t want a fight
But should you refuse my request, mate
And believe me that’s not very wise
I will, take the product in question
And make sure it brings tears to your eyes

Tick Tick Tick Tick Flea
Tick, tick, tick tick flea
Said the sheep as she did her ablution
These pesky things get everywhere
Is there really no final solution
With just one haircut in the spring
Followed close, by our annual wash
We’re girls you know, it’s not the thing
How on earth can we ever be posh
If only we were human, we
Could bathe when we wanted, what bliss
We’d have bath time, spring, summer and autumn
But in winter we’d give it a miss

The Worlds Greatest Invention
I’ve got a great invention
I use it all the time
It does the things that I should do
It always works just fine

It cleans my room it tidies up
And puts my stuff away
Does chores I don’t have time to do
So I can go and play

I never have to worry
If I run a little late
I find my meals are cooked for me
And ready on a plate

It doesn’t need much maintenance
To make it sweetly hum
Just a little oiling,
With the words “I love you mum”
