Raindrops paint a muted reflection on my front window pane.
Wails come from a thunderous sky; I wipe away my tears again.
The summer sun melts my mask and a still breaking heart.
Raindrops fall cleansing the earth, I resign to make a fresh start.
Violent storms defined my summer, autumn rain renews my soul.
Drops create a clear reflection, a smile and precious life extolled.
I hear their almighty roar!
Lions pontificating on the Senate floor.
I see wolves prowling the House chamber;
Howling to create a national anger;
Media circus masters have them controlled,
In the big tent they’ve both extolled.
Matters not who is in the majority;
Expanding authority, always the priority;
Acts restricting freedom and prosperity;
Do not represent my constituency;
A birthday is a time for great rejoicing
for gifts of beauty from heart and hand untold
to laud with laughter ev'ry sweetheart's voicing
with prayerful words let life's virtues be extolled.
So let's, raise a glass and toast the summer sweet
with honeyed words and images from dreams complete
with Health, and Wealth, and Fame and ribald story
letting our dearest friends find morning's glory.
I shall but wait for you by the riverside
Until our breaths meet, no shadow could hold
