A government so strong it can
Help Everyman
Will help itself to freedom, too:
What else is new?...

Life
life is like a gigantic mirror
everyman could view a dream
every dream could make a hero
effort gives a taste of cream
to a dogged dreamer’s image
yet fate taunts a dreamer’s age!...

That's When Death Kicks In
heart swelling, beating hard,
that's when death kicks in,
took my heart and carved
a deep black hole,
guess I'm on a role,
everyman seems to detect,
this girl, self-centered and egoistic,
i guess i have this effect....

My Soul Mate
There is
No Mistake
It was fate
Everything was fixed
Yes, I am convinced.

We knew from before
Tied forevermore.
We recognized each other's eyes
a complete change in our lives.

There's a plan
for everyman
Follow the plan:
"Live happily ever after..."...

Face Off
in your valley
looking passed
kneecapped
mountains

facing the cave
below where
your cyclops
lives

not looking
at your medusa
moaning over
your siren's song

i am no man

Everyman but
perhaps

immoral
immortal
importantly
yet it is you

who

The Song of Everyman
I am History!
Moulded of the Earth and the stars,
of the temporal silence of a tear,
    as Jesus of Narareth,
    Albert Einstein,
    Martin Luther King, or
a dust particle in a ray of sunlight,
I threw off the shackles of inferiority.
In a moment of revelation, I knew
that breath is my sole defense
and totality is my joy.

Everyman
Every Man
Every man is a blind tourist
On bare feet, naked body
In the mystery world of foes
Full of thorns and venom
Battling against chaotic ordeals
Unlucky he who tours long
Fighting long folly wars
With no victory in sight
Ripening and rotting
Slowly and surely
Like tomatoes
From anniversary
To anniversary
Finally resting
In the dustbin
Forever...

Still Round the Corner
Still round the corner there may wait, a new road or a secret gate.
Along a shore of golden sand, within some hidden glade
unknown to man, unseen before, in dappled sun-kissed shade.
Upon the sculpted mountains, below majestic clouds,
awaiting new adventure, gather hope filled eager crowds.
And captured in each heartbeat, that beholds this promised land
The uncertainty of fortune, stirs the dreams of everyman....

"had To End In Fifty"
Can't be nineteen ninety-nine
or fourteen forty-five
had to end in fifty
to keep the quarter alive!

Oh, that lowly penny
a nuisance to be sure
lately out of favor
and its easy to see why
has to end in fifty
to make a simple buy.

Twenty-nine eighty seven
too much to figure out ...
has to end in fifty
of that there is no doubt.

Inspiration & title taken from Philip Roth's "Everyman"...

Side Effects
Whenever the day begins
Amidst misery
I am in the Looney bin.

If I ask for a moment
Of lucidity
I am married to torment.

Do you see my dilemma?
The insanity!
This is not my agenda.

I can’t switch from fright to fight
With this remedy
Man forged in a sleepless night.

But I do want to be seen
Avoiding crazy
Like everyman between.

For the Everyman
Counting beans by the sun
through the California twilight
yearning for a past yet undiscovered
Ambitious wavelengths of
earned emancipation growing ever
to the trembles of a call from
high above
Reaching the peak, alas,
vision obscured by the
journey's destination
never carefully known
So for eternity the beans keep
counting, wondering for whom
their number turns to fate
unaware that the mighty have
fallen to the heights of
ever more...

I Am Risen
I Am Risen
Why do we sorrow?
We chosen?
Sorrow gives way to joy, when belief triumphs in inspiration,
Creative bursts of healing and ecstasy,
My cup runneth over,
Why do we sorrow?
We chosen?
Is it our fate?
There is another way,
The lamb’s yoke is easy and his burden is light,
Joy is the destiny of the prophet,
The cross waits for everyman, but after the cross resurrection triumphs in inspiration,
I am here, I am real, I am risen. Selah!...

Quaint Villages
What makes a village quaint?
It's neither thatch, nor paint,
but the random humanity of no design, that makes a hamlet seem divine.
An absence of any particular plan,
the chaotic choices of everyman. Practical solutions made in haste multiply to a state of grace.
Man's desire to impose his will
more oft than not does only ill.
So here's a cup to wiggly walls,
to half done thatch and wood clad walls, for in our careless human madness
is sown the seed of village gladness....
