Brand New Gig
There once was a character named Eli
Who really loved the fourth of July
He thought he was a stud
His fireworks were a dud
So he got a new gig and moved to Thai

Eli Elf Loves His Bobcat Pet
Eli snuggled up to his sweet winter snow pet
Squishing Mr. Bobcat as close as he could get
This day is damp said Bob, my fur is all wet
Mama won’t let you in the house though, that is my bet.
We can stay here and snuggle, so don’t you fret.
You are my favorite person, my best friend, my pet....

MOVIE NOTEBOOK
Recent films of note include
FISTFUL OF COMMANDMENTS
With Heston and Eastwood
THE MAGNIFICENT DWARFS AND SNOW WHITE
With Eli Wallach as Grumpy, and
Yul Brynner as Baldy, a kind of white knight
And the British biblical re-make
BIG BEN HUR
That one really caused me to double-take...

Urban Tale
Morning has come to the Lower East Side
I get ready for the day
After selecting decent threads
I will decide what to do
Meeting an old friend at 2
I also must pick up my new glasses
I want to see the city today!
Later on I will watch the NY Giants
battle the Dallas Cowboys
Made a wager on the game
Go Eli
Hope they win!...

Ballad
growing a wise wonderful son
Niharo grew herself a strong wise wonderful son.
She showed him there is strength in sensitivity and truth
Listening and helping others was Niharo’s way of life
Her son Eli was revered and respected by most
Brave enough to live his truth, confident in his manners
Teaching the world his mother’s respectful ways
Eli was much sought after by the maidens of his village
Caught by the kindest and most reverent one, naturally....

Prose Poetry
Unlikely Duet
His "mommy" had taken
her grandson bungee jumping,
and left me dog sitting.
Eli, a tiny black "Pom,"
two pounds dog, five pounds hair,
stared at me. His sad eyes
begged, "My mommy's gone,
what're you gonna do about it?"
In spite of mediocre ability
–What do dogs know?–
I began to sing,
"You Are My Sunshine."
Eli pointed his nose heavenward,
pursed his mouth,
and sang with me, his tongue
curled into a rose-tinted
petal of love....

A Tickle
Sat at my computer just now, simply nothing better to do,
Along came Lexi & Eli, can we have a cuddle from you?
Eli jumped on my knee, and Lexi was by his side,
Tickled them on their ears, both, I swear, just sighed.
Then thinking on the bigger picture as oft we do not do,
Just a little bit of attention can make us all sigh too.
It didn't take a minute, then they both went off to play,
So I hope you get a tickle to help you through the day.
