The defeat at the Panic Beach panics me constantly;
Passing the Lonely Bay, I feel even more lonely.
Who has ever survived his death since antiquity?

~We used to stalk frogs together..
I'd tell her that in every pond
there was a frog king 
who wears a duckweed crown..
Every time we spotted one
she'd whisper
"daddy is that the king 
with the duckweed crown?"
and every time I'd whisper yes.

She's all grown up now..
a little lost (like most) 
hopping amidst frosted lily pads
one heartbeat above the water line..
a thinning soul dodging teeth
still searching for a frog king
