A boy living alone
Never gave up like a stone
Struck by stern and stormy weathers
Yet surviving like a full grown-dog, playing around heathers
unspeakable love
met me at the door everyday
scratching with his paws
he never missed a day
telling me he loved me in his own doggy way

He had a son you know

I used to have a dog

Been assigned to make people giggle
How do I manage it, I eat doggy kibbles
Could that be it
I'll ask my therapist
Venture to say he'll ask if I launch brown missiles
For our snowman my Great Dane has quite a crush
King leaps in for a hug and turns it to mush
Come push lunge or shove
King can't rein in his love
Turning a cold winter heart into melting slush

My toy poodle just loves to dance
She'll tango and cha-cha and prance
When I fell back and sighed
she arfed and replied
it's all quite the rage in France

My beagle went on summer vacations
Spreading good will in many nations
He never got lost

So toss the cur, drink up, and get your dog some therapy

I take my doggy walking
in a paradise of sniffs,
a narrow, woodsy trail
that runs beside the cliffs,
much frequented by furry friends
of every sort and kind,
and you should see how giddy he gets
sniffing the billets-doux they leave behind.
