COUNT DOWN NEW YEARS EVA
NIGHT
It’s seems sometimes the hours go
Slipping away so very slow
I am left waiting for the next tick
Like the banging of a drum-stick
Do I count the minutes gone
Or the minutes until the gong
We are all slaves to ticking clock
Waiting for the count- down lock.
© Paul Warren Poetry
If one, then two and three understand my pain.
Like five and six feelings at a single moment.
Four is where I am at, half way too eight, and
two times a problem. So let me count down;
three, two, one, and stop on zero. Which cannot be.
So let it be known that problems carefully calculated
can be solved.
Another day of work
begins at 6 and ends at 2
could be dead, could be busy
don't know for sure
everyday is different from the last
fast food is unpredictable
guess I'll have to wait and see
how busy we're going to be
I'll count down the minutes til I get to leave
just to do it all over again on Friday at 4.
Form:
New Year's Eve.
The beer is in the cooler the tv is tuned in to the ball drop.
I be ready and willing to Kick in the New Year.
Chips and dip and soda pop to.
Gin and rum may bring a grin.
Ready to count down is all most here
I think I'll take a short nap.
I'll sleep till the guest all get here
What a party I'll have next year.
Did you hear it?
Or perhaps you saw the flash
There is no more use for cash
I remember the man saying almost
praying that the end is near
Funny how I have no fear
No time to dwell
Will it be heaven or hell?
And who made the decision
to finally push that button?
There is no one left to blame
It truly is the end of the game...
Like an hour glass, I watch people around me grow and grow.
The sand is running down. Day by day, year by year.
I was raised without the possibility of death.
I'm orphaned from the life so beautiful, the scenery so new and unexplored.
I see in the mirror of what was so young, alive and innocent.
I feel as though I'm to be forgotten like a daily routine.
Count down until
that wonderful day
when I will see that
beautiful tree of life
and touch the face
of my dear Jesus
and thank Him
for all that He
did for me.
Beautiful tree of life
heard so much
about it and
of heaven, waiting
until that dear day.
Glory land I'm coming
soon, will be a happy
day when I touch
that beautiful tree of life.
