Love of Flowers
Marigolds are my favorite, variegated, ruffled and sweet.
Roses, hollyhocks, bluebells or coneflowers, hard to beat.
Did I mention lilies, or daffodils? They do lead the parade.
Cannot eliminate purple lilacs whose scent wafts in the shade.
Fragrances of spring in the air. Love all flowers I have to share....

December
Silver haired, the year
rests in the field.
Crows gather
on the sycamore bones.
The day is like glass.
Winter lurks
in the shadows.
In brittle glades,
papery pods protect
the last seeds.
Spiky coneflowers stand tall;
the goldfinches had their harvest.
Everywhere signs
of a cycle
fulfilled.

Faeries Favorite Time of Day
Her wings hold her lightly above
the coneflowers her favorite
She glided down onto a promising one
with bright pink petals
the dew causing a shine
Faerie’s favorite time of day
sun began reaching out with long loving fingers
Faerie reposed on the pretty blossom
Turing her face to the sun,
a gorgeous peace overflows her....

Craving a Buzz
Smith-Gilbert trails — trellises of Georgia roses, the piney scent of conifers, plentiful perennials, the shady pond with splashing koi, the mulberry bowl, hand in hand — my grandson and I.
amid faerie garden
and bonsai forest —
buzz of coneflowers

Pretty Dragonfly Spreads Love
In a gorgeous meadow chock full of butterflies and daylilies there lived a
sassy happy beautiful dragonfly. She was loved by the tulips, roses, and coneflowers. The monarchs revered her, seeing the joy she brought to the meadow. This little dragonfly did her best to fit in, nurturing each aspect of the meadow as was her right.

The Dawn In Blue
Dawn rose on blue misty mountains, and matching blue sky;
And it wasn't very long, before bluebells caught my eye.
The bluejays sang sunshine, all around the morning glory,
As blue butterflies flitted about, the peacock territory!
Blue dragonflies crept on leaves, off to an odd somewhere,
The world was covered in blue, although hardly yet aware!
Coneflowers and grape hyacinths, danced to forget-me-nots,
And sun turned slowly golden, as if nature's afterthoughts....
