Charted lanes of custom,
complacency alights
familiarity trumping all
—mindless in the night
(Dreamsleep: October, 2021)
Complacency, leisure and ease,
Sloth is a creeping disease.
To take your first breath,
Put comfort to death,
Only then, the day you may seize!
If you don't think we can change the world for the better, that only means,
that you will be one of those who didn't because of your complacency.
Walks on the line of ineptness
Treacherous and unstable footing
Pain is the fuel for complacency
Tortured, but unbreakable
The location of no escape
In quietly floating the stream,
not one to abandon the team,
you relinquish your row
just to go with the flow,
complacently drowning your dream.
I saw that light
Beautifully burning and slightly confused
Crazed white bodies dancing around it.
The electrons buzzed inside of you
with ever so much complacency.
What do you choose?
Form:
i sat down
at a table,
and
i picked
up my
fork.
the fork had
several noodles
with
sauce wrapped tightly
around
it,
but when
i picked
it up,
they slid away
into
the dark abyss.
I need to learn
I need to see
All this harm
And complacency
What am I doing
In life yes writing
Poetry is nice
But how far have I come
For it to all be undone
And start from scratch
All over again
Plain things in plain clothes doing plain things.
Took a plane, deplaned in fresh air of the plains.
Found plain things not drab sans complaint.
Complacency in plain places displaced.

Cuddled in complacency
Assuring herself nothing will change
She is content
Personified oak
Wrapped in warm bark
Warm reassuring branches
Perfect husband
Happy children
Wonderful life
911 happens
To her
Tearing her limb from limb
Is there a secret you have to hide?
In me, you can confide.
My range of trust is very wide.
I will always be by your side.
In you, I wish to restore complacency.
I will always be there if you need me.
Inspired by another member's poem.
Drench me in the hues of ocean.
The sky in my bosom quivers
while the dark clouds shadow the birds.
Lost in eternal darkness
heart ripped off by this separation
Insanity mollifies the baffled mind.
Devoured by bleakness
the soul rejoices in complacency.
Both
Sides
Stubborn
Not budging
Washington impasse
The government shutdown drags on
While the furloughed and unpaid federal workers suffer
When will the captains of complacency in Washington finally end this madness?

Shattered shell the pieces settle, succumbing to time
A spell so subtle.
A fog of complacency numbs the scrapes
As tendrils of memories seep deep-
Tunneling down twisting hard narrow vessels
Until the sickness settles.
This heart will stop-
When healing neglects.
Joyful memories carve
a forever-space in time.
Impermanence clips at our heels
with Luciano and Beverly's last songs.
Complacency gnaws at our life-rope
as wild strawberries
go unnoticed,
until the rope snaps
and we hear the cries of Rigoletto
ringing in our ears.
Each disappointment seems final
But none of them are fatal
Every victory feels eternal
But they all soon fade away
But the need is consistent
To be persistant in resistance
To complacency in winning
Or despondency from losing
It’s all a matter of choices
So be wise in the choosing.
If the crimes of government still remain unknown to you,
then allow your conformed indoctrinated lives to continue,
but if you see what I see, if you feel what I feel and if you seek what I seek,
then get the hell off that couch and enlighten everybody,
and stop living a lie of comfortable complacency.
A mental pilgrimage
beyond the horizon
of mind,
unrefined.
Self introspection,
pricked my conscience
with your double edged
remarks.
Realization shattered
self-complacency
mushroomed
in my untamed self.
On the verge
of desolation
I encountered you
my Teacher
who took me
to the unending vista
of imagination.
In its entirety
Safe keeping's vision
General's, shepherd's in close range
Pressed round horizon!
"Retreat!" The call goes out.
Each, 'at ease', 'lolling'
Inescapably overwhelmed.
Ere caves holed up in.
Beware complacency!
Skyline we all share.
Time's; in what fateful looms up.
Less for can prepare!
Nuclear bombs are stacked
To use when an enemy needs to be whacked
With one leader having eight hundred bombs ready
And another matching them so very handy
Scientists move their clock
Closer to the midnight slot
For mutual deterrence is the story
Locked with complacency with no glory.

when we fall prey to complacency
and comfortably wallow in abject sloth,
we suffocate motivation in its nascency.
eschew apathy and inactivity; rise above both!

Love rang my heart where I rebuffed her advances, hoping to heighten the longing love felt despite my fickle indifference, complacency and obstination. Love walked away and stoutly locked her door hermetically. I rue my puerile procrastination...
Love slips into longing
hearts quiet, unheard, unseen
until it vanishes.
The killer that will get you eventually
is plain and simply inactivity.
This is one of the downfalls of living in a society
with all of these comforts from modern technology
which in turn promotes complacency
both mentally and physically.
Get off that couch and stop being so lazy.
Exercise that brain. Exercise that body.
I fear many things.
I fear I stay complacent in my own misery.
Time is of the essence,
yet action for change is unattainable
And I speak of change possible for myself,
which is perhaps the most upsetting point to note,
for my limits are set on a glass roof
I fear I will shatter with my feet on the ground.
I fear my own fear.
I love you, my son
Simple, wayward, spinning complacency
Father loving deeply, inside his mind
He guides me to a boil, scared, scarred
This messy pot of scalding loving scorn
Bubbling for recognition, a job well done
The innocence inoculates him
I dreamt I was you, I was
A callow young man, as you become me
As I became you
