On this cloudy winter day
Smoke, taking on the characteristics
Of a ghost from embers past,
Floats the evening zephyrs,
Filling nostrils
With infidelity’s stench;
Their place of abeyance,
A hillside just north of town;
The true nature and characteristics of a human being will come forth,
When they are knowingly/unknowingly let confined.
For human beings are in enigma, a paradox yet to be solved,
And will never be solved for all life is an experiment and we are all but the subjects of death
and paranoia.
Thoughts. they twist, turn, and travel,
in a passing pretentious place as one ponders
crying, climatic, charismatic, characteristics containing to you.
Delightedly doubtful, declining due to direct disbelief
So subtle these thoughts are saying surely yet slowly sleep.

Blank
Longing
Expressionless
White.
The characteristics of the first
lonely fall of winter,
mirroring the depression
that one sometimes feels
at an empty dinner table.
