"I'm from the Census Bureau," I said
"You're from the U.S. government, I dread"
So I asked him his name
     He replied, "Putin-tame"
~ Ha! I'll have to deport you, all the same!"...

According To Census and Consequences
According to Census and Consequence

Have heard according to latest census,
When you will compare consequences;
Difficult to digest;
Many are in west;
In south you hardly do find any fences.

Trump and Suspences
Trump and Suspences
(He never meets.)

Trump started out with several suspenses,
And he ended up with many consequences;
Always stalling,
And appalling;
Of his brain we sure should take a census.

Premium Member The Kid and the Census Taker
It appears that Billy, the Kid had some fun with a census taker
during that period when the Kid was a cattle rustler.
On the application where it states what one does for a living
the Kid jotted down "cattle managing."...

Don’t leave your shadow to the light
Image to the mirror
Footprints to the sand
Name to the census
Faith to the priest
Key to the door
Will to the bank
Vision to the future
Hopes to the pap
Body to the morgue

So your ghost won’t have to come back for them....

Effective Hunter
There is an effective hunter
he hunts with no weapon
but captures with precision
and enjoys his catch in tones
disciplined mathematician he is
every meal and bones he keeps
skulls of prey he weighs daily
any stubborn animal in the bush
is invited to check the stock
and record census of victims
that were sent laughing away
inside dreaded motherland...

Premium Member Unnumbered
In 1790, the first U. S. Census
counted four million heads.

An inaccurate number,
wholly deceptive.

Women were rarely named
except those widowed.

"Free White Males" were tallied
weighing the draft.

A slave numbered 3/5 of a person.
American Indians didn’t make the count.

Fast forward 220 years:
2010 Census

Nose count, 310 million.
Absolutely everyone
made the list.

Premium Member Bashful Birds Cry
Listen to poem:
I wonder whether the birds I watch
mind being watched?
Do they wonder what the hell
the bird watchers are looking at so intently,
with such devotion to the census?
Or wonder what are the itchy twitching bewitchers
are carrying in their camera bags?
Can there be no privacy for flimsy shy flutterers?
Why can't the twitchers leave us be
to flock and gaggle free of the
unwelcome stares of
the watching wardens?...

Tantamount
To you I'm a number
A census head count
A baseline, statistic
Not special
Tantamount
A blip on a radar
A bump in the road
I'm just human traffic
A bipedal drone
I'm only a age range
A line on a graph
A check with a Bic pen
A dot on a map
I want you see me
Know who I am
That I breathe,
That I'm tangible
Just touch me again
Show me you want me
Tell me I count
Not one of the masses
Not common
Tantamount...
