Fitness Smell
I want fitness and what do I get
A field of blue-bonnets, I just bet
I don’t smell like that
It’s just an attack
Of the nose senses as I sure sweat

Thunder
"Be still my heart!"
The thunder, the splatter,
all the drenching liquid matter --
then the storm passes,
and out come beautiful lasses,
clipping roses for bonnets,
choosing beaus for dearer sonnets -- it's really about love --...

Bloomers
blossoms
bright bursts of life
each branch trembles, dancing
dressed for spring in Easter bonnets
hopeful.

Easter Parade
Marching, marching
Flowered bonnets
Flowered bonnets
Tripping the light fantastic.
Mom got so excited;
“Turn on the TV”
“Who’s the grand marshal?”
Look for the fire department in line.
It has always been an attack on my ears
And my hat never had enough fruit on it.

Happy Easter
Happy Easter to everyone on Poetry Soup
(except those of you not in the 'Christian group')
I hope that you all enjoy the holiday
and that the Easter Bunny comes your kids' way
Of course, there's a lot more to Easter than bunnies and bonnets
but I'll 'Pass Over' that ~ let theologians ruminate on it
~ Happy Easter to One and All! ~...

Adaptation
The grass is no longer strictly green
morning dew has turned to frost
it crunches in shades of yellow
when over it I walk.
The sky is clouded, over bearing
covering what was recalled
as springtime sun, and blue bonnets
fully in charge of the hill.
Nothing in this season
has been truly lost, the cost
of course is patience
and belief that new will happen again....

Moving
the words spin off my toungue
louder louder
I see shaker women in grey dresses
bonnets
spinning spinning
in the field
secret smiles beamed to each other
secret circle keeping them save
the thoughts run around my skull
faster
hotter
chasing falling
and I can't finish
my heart pushes my blood
and I can feel the pumping
I can take in the oxygen
to keep us all
going
for now....

Chicks Strut Their Easter Bonnets
The chicks strutted their Easter bonnets all over the barnyard.
Their mother the hen was proud; she loved every second.
Their father did not claim them, they were so puffed up.
Everyone had an opinion.
Some good, some bad.
Too confident. Too cocky. Too self-assured.
These were the observations of the male chicks.
Exciting! Pretty! Lovely! Marvelous! Wonderful!
This was the oldest hen’s observation.
Let’s call her Grandma....

Five Haiku Pansy Poems
color, dance, imagery, inspirational, poetry, wind, word play,
In my pansy patch
The flower petals surround
Cherub expressions!
The pansy petals
Edge their small faces in bonnets
Framing heads so well
Flower pansy dresses
My petal faeries wear well
‘Show-offs’ with such airs!
My faerie pansies
Bow and bend to the winds song
Under the sky blue!
Butterfly sets down
Over the pansy’s to draw
Syrup in the cup!...

Old Man's Lament
OLD MAN’S LAMENT
Poor irving Berlin –
“Put on your Easter bonnet
And frills upon it” -
Wouldn’t he get just deathly ill
At today’s Easter Parade
There are no bonnets
Instead girls wear nose rings
Guys with drooping pants
There are no crooners no Bing
Just rock bands with loud drummers

Young folk may not agree with my poem, but I say, "Take that, ya young whipersnappers!"...

Morning Breaks
Misty start to another day
Orange glow struggling to shine
Rain clouds have gone away
Natures way of making us feel fine
Indecisive weather, waits for mist to burn
Now no sign of it left in the sky
Giddy rays of sunshine reign in it's turn
Babies in bonnets, smiley face
Ready to play of mist no trace
Easy times to enjoy the scenery around.
Area in park just for children!s playground
Knowing there safe, to run freely at will
Surely morning sun breaking gives all a thrill....

Awakening In Spring
Fields of slender sleeves of green
Yellow bonnets in the breeze
Crocus and Hellebores free
A blanketed snowy crystal mound
