Sunshine on the Moon

A moon at the crest of a hill,
As big as the house it was covering,
Neighbors gathered – strangers and old,
In moonbeams fearfully hovering.

Never was there such a moon,
Through my lifetime of many years,
Un-believing so awed we were,
Breathless, still, evoking shared stunned tears.
