Pakistani Barbecue
Dining amongst the Pakistani friends of my neighbour.
Hearing them speaking in their Urdu tongues as all turns to a blur.
Enjoying all their barbecued meats and condiment treats....

Flying the Coop
If you were a chicken, how would you handle
The fear of being barbecued at somebody's castle
Would you fly the coop
Planning to paratroop
Drop some poop bombs, their party to cancel...

Rachel Turkey Barbecued
Rachel Turkey Barbequed
Size of big turkey had been rude;
Not fit in over and caused a feud;
Answer sought;
We had fought;
Big turkey had to be barbequed.
Jim Horn
This actually happened to Rachel Maddow....

Chicken Prepared Differently
Chicken that is prepared in many ways
Makes no differences to me
Whether it is baked, fried-
Or barbecued it taste good
Also tasty in spaghetti sauce
Anyway it is prepared I'd enjoy
To eat my meal....

Food For the Soul
Give me some mustard and collard greens.
Bring along some rice and beans.
I'll have some chicken good enough for finger licking.
Those barbecued ribs are rib sticking.
If you want to see me open my eyes,
serve me any assortment of pies.
This is the food I extol.
This kind of food is good for the soul....

Notting Hill Carnival
colourful Flags of the Caribbean
Flood Londons streets,
Vibrations from the sound systems
as they play their reggae beats
smells of curry goat,
and barbecued jerk chicken
Fill the the air,
While men and women are whining with feathers in their hair
Everyone’s United
dancing and chanting loudly,
Sipping from cups of homemade sorrel,
displaying their cultures proudly....

Sounds of Fun June21-September 21
I miss happy sounds of our summers like:
Firecrackers crackling over my head,
The crackling sounds of marshmallows toasting,
My Daughters kite rippling in the lakeside breeze,
Fisherman’s stories that go on boasting,
The sound of sticky aloe vera peeling of my Hawaiian shirt,
I miss the steady clicking sound of my reel,
And the sound of the caryatids as barbecued chicken is roasting,...

Barbecued Ribs
In summer, we grill them in our backyard.
Preparation of spare ribs is not hard.
Just light the charcoal, and let it get hot.
Is there a special brand of barbecue sauce you've got?
Spread the sauce on the ribs and let them cook away.
Barbecued ribs make a special treat on a summer day.
Make sure you get your share before they all go away.

The Bomb Bomb Grille
The Bomb Bomb grille is a great place to be.
This is a nice Italian restaurant in South Philly.
The place has been around for more than half a century.
It’s where to go to try out an Italian specialty.
On the menu, you will see mussels and linguine.
Their barbecued ribs will appeal to you and me.
If the name “Bomb Bomb” appears as an anomaly,
check out their website and read about their history.

Cat Came Unglued
Standing in the doorway, somewhat dishabille,
the neighbor's cat had staked out my grill.
The night before we'd barbecued
some fish and fries and other food.
And now the smells lingering still,
perked up that puss like a pep pill.
At first, I heard disquietude
stalking my deck with attitude.
And in her eyes, a look to kill;
I gave her space with no ill-will.
Out of that grill flew mouse and brood.
What happened next? Cat came unglued.
