Canada winters bitterly cold
Avalanches cascade down slopping hills
North side faces steep and icy
A tiny town sits beneath trees that are old
Down the mountain whose beauty kills
Although their beauty is enticing

Tough and strong
Bold but true
Where everyday
Brings something new...

The mountains of the mind
are not high,
peaks that raise no taller
than the spike of a moment,

and yet,

to climb them can be treacherous,
thoughts can be avalanches.

Better to just watch,
those bluffs, buttes, and cliffs
as if on an oscilloscope,
let them pass you by
as meaningless blips....

Matterhorn means mountain peak of the meadows
In a pyramidal shape, she has four faces
Her south face is in Valtourmenche Valley, Italy.
North, west and east faces are claimed by Switzerland.

She has regular avalanches
Her active snow accumulates into glaciers
Others claim they have their own Matterhorn.
There is only one, between Switzerland and Italy....

Undoing The Ties That Bind

Moments tasted within
the gaps
between moments
undo the ties that bind.

Bit by bit we settle and rest
setting off little avalanches
of undoing
unraveling the links
of a mind-chain
it has taken an eternity to forge.

of rested blood...
Pause notes,
stopped wait for precise moment
the right time to wake up
unleash the madness
on the other bird of mine...
Kiss and implement wishes,
incites insane flights,
increases sensations
true or false...
Causes shocks and revelations
creating earthquakes
and avalanches, but with
immeasurable pleasure
create solid bonds
of love... !...

   his vehicles, a wide range of health concerns
   permanent disability, large appliances
   his business and all its applicable insurables

   against floods, wars, tornadoes earthquakes
   glacier-melt, cyclones, asteroids, meteors
   avalanches, mudslides, volcanoes, air and 
   seat travel...

                   ... But nothing on his own life...

A smile fades with circumstances,

ESCAPE OF SNOW

Snow shivers on heavy branches.
Lyrics of snowbirds awakens awe.
Bent back of pines — tortuous cane.
Wheelbarrow weighted down with snow.

After storm comes avalanches,
Power outage and blackbird caw.
Powder keg of snow from yonder pane.
Eyes mesmerized ~ life travels slow.

~

For Winter, I hold… no disdain.
This reprieve: there’s no grass to mow.
