Aspiration
Above all the life's traits
Ambition tops the list
asserting one's will to
acquire a secured place,
Aiming high for the stars
albeit down to earth
abhorring vanity.

End Game Conclusion
When you’re dying of terminal sadness,
It’s easy to fall for false cures,
Distracted by tempting amusements
Whose needs seem more pressing than yours.
When you’re two moves adjacent to checkmate
In the game of asserting control,
You’ll get ghosted and gas-lit,
By a gold-digger’s gambit
Hell bent for a piece of your soul.

Uncharted Waters
My life boat has a motor and a sail.
I turn the engine on if zephyrs fail,
And stay the course, despite the turning tides,
Asserting that my vessel steady glides -
Free as a bird with one determined drill -
Common sense - my compass steered by will.
When under I go, feel free to speculate
Whether that was my predetermined fate!

Night Grave Visit- -
~Lo! the night grave I saw the damages;
That later, refreshed decomposed bodies hurting;
My eyes seemed happy as spirit soul subverting;
Death all that my soul within me asserting;
Take thy this event from out my clay heart's CHANCES;~

Together
As sure as this morning
I saw the sun
I knew right then
You were the one.
How could I question this surety?
When the sun is displayed so plainly to me?
For as long as it shines, blinding my eyes
I know that forever you will be mine.
And as long as it’s heat beats down on my feet
It reminds me we’ll never bow down in defeat.
The sun is our rock-
As it’s beams hold true-
Forever asserting that I am with you....

Continuum
Dawn iced the birdbath and crisped the sunless air
to show time for winter to claim its shivered share.
Indeed the season is born again anew
just like the ones as a boy I knew.
So it is with every season since planet’s birth.
Each comes again asserting its worth
and blessing during its stay Mother Earth.
This winter now upon me will be endlessly back
in perennial wave after wave
ages after snow first covers my grave....

Crossing the Forbidden Point
Diving into a dogmatic mystery
to taste the feeling of immortality,
I penetrated the Earth's immense orbit
asserting death as an absurd myth.
Luminous images chased away thick shadows:
a spectacle appeared opening up new worlds
for the astonished eyes to find evidence
that others only see through microscope's lenses.
In less than a minute, I crossed the forbidden point...
following the trail of imagination whenever it went....

By Yourself
Henry wants to do things
“By yourself," as he will say,
Asserting independence
Every step along the way.
At two years old (well, plus a half)
He’ll heartily rebuff
All offers of assistance
(And you cannot call his bluff).
It’s fascinating watching
As he comes into his own,
With aspects of himself that will
Remain when he is grown.
But now, as an observer,
I can give him what he needs –
The space to do things “by yourself”
In hope that he succeeds....
