Premium Member On Don Mclean's American Pie
American Pie surely proves
that Don Mclean was deeply moved
by death in an Iowan snow
of three great artists in a show
by everything that was so changed
Americana rearranged
speaking for his generation
during times of consternation
popular in ‘72
today his thoughts sound almost new

Fate
Pax Americana,
The legend of the land.
Old opportunity
Is all that we demand.

Randomness observed.
It must have been for all.
Masses entrenched.
They did not change their stall.

Privileged people
Believed in their worth.
Natural consequences
Earned upon their birth.

Rarest humility,
Wealthy one unnerved.
Obvious conclusion,
Ease is undeserved....

The Lost Generation
We are the Lost Generation
The forsaken and forgotten ones
Splintered between the Age of Empires:
TV and iPhones
Wedged into slices of sullen Americana
Abruptly, we are scattered in solemn silence
My dreaded Intention flees from vexing self-destruction

To die; 'to sleep, perchance to dream'
We are an idea of silent ambition
Withered kinetic energy, floating away--
We are the Lost Generation......

American Gothic { Picture Poems}
After noticing a small white house
this painter decided that it would look
fancy if someone would live in it too
so using his sister Nan and his dentist
Dr. Byron Mckeeby this colonial print
is mimicking 19th century Americana
And to think that they were never even standing
in front of the house they had been painted separatley

Nashville on my radio
It’s Thursday evening, almost nine
foot-tap, fiddle, and banjo time
with juke-box tales of love’s romance
the county jail, a second chance
for bourbon belles or backroad trucks
mail-box motels, living on luck
from one horse towns to city bars
acoustic sounds that drive guitars
harmonicas with prairie dust
Americana, steel mill rust
cornbread kitchen, joy, and sorrow
songs that long for bright tomorrows
it’s Nashville on my radio
Bob Harris and his Country Show!
