Fleeting

The lights that flare Stain my stare. How deep or true I care, Pales to your new flare. I have proven shallow, Until I can be there.

Premium Member Wine Is Poetry Is Math

One bottle of wine equals three poems
Two bottles of wines equals four poems and a tear
Three bottles of wine equals no poems at all
Yet many a tear
Ask Abu Nuwas
He was great at the math

Holiday

Abu Dhabi that's where we'll go
always sunshine no rain no snow
frolic fun and lots of time
catch me up i'm behind
take you with me?
sure if you want to.
but don't dare to bring that laptop with you

It wasn't there. But I had it, didn't I? I'd left it, I came back. I let go, and now It's no longer mine. Where do I go from here? Where do I go from here? Where do I go from here.

Released

Lifted, I felt the heat of the sun. Falling, I froze, scorched by the cold. I held fast to all I had. Or I tried. I struggle to be thankful, For now, My elevated dreams fulfill me. I can say That you didn't help me.

Upon This Flair

I jumped into a pit of fire
Only to find that my legs caught fire.

For sure, I thought it'd get my head
Where lay this hairy bed.

But wait, what's this?

At last, this head of hair
Went ablaze with such flair,
That I'll sing atop this chair!

Wrong Way

I wash my hands with the waves
That come from day to day.

I look around & I see the sounds
Of my love that's come to play.

”It's been too long.” I say
As she dances her way

To my arms, but I fall as I wake.
Again, it is only I that lays in our estate.

American Contractors

American contractor's are ghosts that the
Government
Sends in to locate certain people,
That never were there.

To give top secret intelligence
To the Government.
So they can
Send in special Op's to kill these
People,
Without due process or trial,
Such as, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

Echoed Dismay

Those footsteps that you left at the door,
Echo the last words I heard you say.

Turning to me, my eyes meet the floor.
I needed to prove myself today.

Again, it was your hope that I tore.
I’ve proven who I am, to your dismay.

What I say, pitted to what I do,
That I’ll never be there for you.

Creations of yesterday the ignorant ones who follow illusions Abu Nuwas saw the truth he lived in pleasures at the caliphs palace both flirtatious and aloof he mocked the righteous in a glass of fermented grapes the screams only came later the little ones ignored a darkness of tears

Abu Cliched

The future made a face at at me
I made a face back at the future

If fate did smile my way
I wyly smiled back at her

Don't mention Karma to me..
They use deragatory terms
In reference to her... ways

Am born of Destiny..
Unto me a path Ordained

Speading wings like an eagle
I do love so soar cloud high..

I Understand

I traced along the battered spine,
But it was not in me
To brace along those tattered lines.

Much I tried to bare the bines,
As straight as I could be,
Caught laced, always, in those tangled vines.

Until – disarrayed – I broke, and heard the chimes.
I have learned to mend,
With every step along this battered bend.

Abu Lahab - Chapter 111, Holy Koran

I ask for refuge to Allah from Satan the exiled evildoer.
In the name of Allah the Kind and the Merciful Giver.

Both hands of Abu Lahab to be perished and so shall he
His wealth and earnings will not be able to benefit him, you see
He will soon burn in blazing Hell
With his wife the bearer of fuel
Around whose neck a noose of twisted bark of date tree.

Beauty Queens

Near Abu Dhabi, beauty queens
Must have expressive eyes.
Their droopy lips and shapely humps
Might help them earn a prize.

The competition’s very fierce;
Big bucks are the reward.
Contestants, in the thousands,
Strut around, appearing bored.

The winners, wearing necklaces
Designed to look like gold,
Bring honor to their owners
Right before each camel’s sold.

We Share One Apple and Innumerable Dreams

At some point you and I became we,
my hopes became yours to share.
When did I realize we would become one?
Was it that spring, when the trees were pink with apple
blossoms and songbirds darted among the reeds and
we walked by the river speaking innumerable
sentences and you held my hand and told me your dreams?

Ammo Abu Anas

His words add splendor to all that’s trite
Just like a tender breeze would do to a
Hot, summer night
Just like mountains are embellished
By golden sunlight
And just like an afternoon sky is colored
By a rainbow or a kite

Ammo: (Arabic) Paternal uncle or great-uncle, or ,more generally, a respectful form of
address to any man of an older generation.
Abu: (Arabic) “Father of”

Premium Member The Wine of Abu Nuwas

Arrested for thoughts
Of carnal delights
Tortured in the heat of a desert night
Poisoned, a corpse of poetic disdain
They do not care for the verses I write

Demons walking on holy water
I turned that water to blood red wine
They drowned
Drinking it in, I laughed then frowned

In chains, locked inside of me
Desires imprisoned. never set free
Walking along streets without destiny
Death approached, with an enticing smile

The last road traveled, at least
With his company awhile
