Self Appointed Poems

Premium MemberNot Responsible

The power depends on the people’s will
They were taught to believe this at high school
But as practice has shown, powers like to kill
And the people are forced to obey under rule
So the contract between the people and power
Looks a bit stretched cause it was preset
Do I need a law how to water my flower?
My goodwill’s stipulated without my consent?
And now you self appointed judges get loud
Condemning me for the war in your garden
But you've got the wrong address, dear crowd
Type the proper number of your chosen warden
Am I not responsible for lunar eclipses yet?
Mustn’t I write an explanatory note
On three A 4 sheets of paper, so that
Could be cheerfully taken as my absent vote.

Prescribed Celebration

(yes, I'm serious)

Three minutes.

That’s how long it took
to name a swarming mess:
A self-appointed poet
with rogue chemicals sizzling in her nerves.
The diagnosis long and fancy—
bitter but addictive
on my tongue,
like the gin I’ve grown fluent in.
(Is that why his voice was slurred?)

                         “…The patient flinches
at the morning rains in May.
                         Her ink contradicts herself…
                         …and her thoughts betray.”

“…Well, this is why.” He pointed at my brain.

I sighed and rest
my head against the chilly wall
painted a welcoming shade of yellow.
The nurse lit branded candles:
they reserve lavender
for calming the stormier souls—
but I blow out the flame
with laughters drumming in my rib cage—

All this time,
I’ve been stuck
in debates on who’s to blame
But finally—finally,

Printed on stapled prescription bags—
a long, fancy name.
Now we can toast
with tablets in paper cups—
Here’s to
finding an enemy that's not me.

Premium MemberPoison Lister

There is a lister lurking
like a snake inside the weeds
who sadly just exists to find
and judge all other feeds

It serves no other purpose
but to poison and divide
placing names on ugly lists
deciding who and why

Its arrogance, repulsive
its labels an attack
a self-made judge and jury
self-appointed label hack

Beware, it seeks more victims
ladies, gentlemen, it’s true
this vile and vicious lister goes by
the name of skywatch.blue

Premium Memberisobaric pleasure

caught in the same gale force winds
they eyed the storm drenched in tears
the epicenter had been an outpour
of sadness rejection and unresolved fear
to weather inevitable flood gates of change

torrential delusions of anger denial and fear
shadowed by a solar eclipse of two lost souls
faced the same need for healing and love

all self-appointed weather men and women
family and friends surrounded them in scepsis
warnings unwanted advice and discouragement

can you not see the hurricane brewing they said
do not get involved but save your own skins
but they walked quietly to the next beach
drew a line in the sand and entered the tides
propelled by the moon passion desire togetherness

circumstances seemed apocalyptic and hopeless
yet faith made them swim out into the ocean
not to silence the wicked prophets of doom but
to bathe in salt water cleansing the mis-adventurous past

despite all odds they floated happily on the surface
all they could see was adoration and the miracle of life
one with themselves and with each other in peace

Premium Memberself appointed mouse king

Self-appointed mouse king was a huge success
He crowed to the world, standing on a robin’s nest
We rolled our eyes, for we know his personality well.
Some stuff he brags about doing are not so very swell.

Swan Song

This aint my first rodeo
I have known horse refuse before

Not thoughtful enough or thorough I thought
Well thats what boots are for

Emblazened on my personal crest
familial coat of arms

I will haul me from this arena
be my self appointed gendarme

Prison would be an upgrade to
held fast with invisable bar

set myself free fly the coop
If I have to sleep in a car

Or any of the myriad excuses for
the cowardice that holds me fast

I simply must be my own champion
I see this now at last

No one is coming to extricate
they will not send in the clown

For front and center he holds the stage
as I look for him all around

I pray to never give up on me
And never be given up on

Off this sawdust littered ground
this phoenix will soar like a swan.

Requiring more room for take off
But thereafter soon from sight

The powerful strength and span of its wings
Climbing boldly through this night

Premium MemberTITANIC OVERTURES

Chinrest in place I begin to play my violin and the whole world
                       disappears....
an appassionato moment of pure delight, among the chaos of
                                            a swallowing ocean !
Dreams I never dared dream pour out like blood, at the cusp of
                                                         a massive drowning;
Titanic of 1912, a collision of magnitude proportion between
                                    ice and steel,
the thrum of dying bodies pummeling down into the sea.

She was beautiful, a broken fire in the middle of the
                                            Adriatic Sea...
He a Jack of the arts a poor man with a lucky card
then there was J Bruce Ismay, a coward
with a license to preach, a self appointed God,
who placed greed in front of life and progress...

I play on, " Nearer, My God, to Thee"
my music becomes my last will and testament,
as my feet sink and my soul leaves my body
I play for the God who saves,
I play for the drowning victims,
and I play for the sea, that taketh me

Premium MemberFly In the Ointment

Feeling something’s not right
a general dissatisfaction
or persistent fundamental flaw
I look inward for a cause.

Dr. Hubris, at your service!
Self appointed, to discover,
diagnosis and cure
the very footsteps he makes
in the wilderness of Psyche.

But what he finds is the same
basic ignorance he always finds,
an ignorance at the core of it all
so basic there is no cure.

And so his footsteps change nothing
except leave his tracks
across this pristine ground
the ground his projecting creative mind
self-identifies as flawed….

Premium MemberThe Watcher Watched

Laborare Estorare in obscure ANON-ymity
Though to do as they must they'll know nothing but pain
In this richly owned world, self appointed divinity
The righteous still toil in God's Holy Name

We're but offal to corporate greed
In a long chain of man-made disasters
Like a freight train unleashed at full speed
They queue to bow down to their masters

Their exorbitant memberships paid
They gather like rose-stem pricks
As cold as a steel switchblade
Schwabs Great Reset on their lips

Information is media controlled
A cleverly designed social narrative
We're cautioned to do as we're told
Compliance, the crucial imperative

Like corporate ships, overwhelming
A psychopars hands on the rudder
Towards the edge of destruction We're sailing
Big Pharma's in league with Big Brother

Though Big Brothers race is being run
Sometimes his plans they get botched
By a fly in the ointment Anon
They know now the Watchers being Watched

Take It Back

To the self appointed patricians of government

Take back your schemes
Take back your doles
What makes you deem
That I was one of your proles

I may have needs
Wishes it’s true
Keep your snake oil and beads
I’ll get along without you

You came along with all your clever machinations
Supported and all paid for by enforced donations

So take back your dosh
We’ll make no fuss
Just remember by gosh
You got it all from us

Poetry Wives

waiters and presidents
bartenders and poetry-wives
this pitiful boring life
was self-appointed without
the gavel's gravel of
broken words

the water's fire dozes
off to become forgotten dust
of aurora borealis' gaze
the payment of perforated lies
cuts deeper than the blade's
edge of forty days and nights
as my poems begin to really hurt
i feel so bare so hard to cry
having known that unknowing is
like hating but loving my ex-wives
(who i fought for love before)
so waiters and presidents
bartenders and poetry-wives
this pitiful boring life
was self-appointed without
the gavel's gravel of
broken words

Premium MemberI Decided To Stay a Bit Longer

I screwed it on and it went right up the bank.
Hey! Said Crankden Cramden, was that mink named Hank?
The one who lost his head and needed a new one? I asked.
I think so said Bogland Bagomire, as he baited and basked.

I am irritated when strangers get in on my conversation of course.
So I gave him the bug eye, and got back up on my horse.
That is cheap cheese you are using for bait, Betty Beatercheese said.
I gave her the fisherman eye that said clearly “you’re dead”.

As if by magic Shabolina Pilford suddenly appeared in Rockah.
She said “tighten up the chain and wheelie for a block’ah!”
The self appointed experts began giving Shabolina weird advice.
You can’t ram the car son! A voice yelled, and not very nice.

I’ll jerk the keys! The son yelled at his father, Crankden Cramden.
That’s when I smelled the odiferous cat box, put there by Jamden.
Fonkland O’giglocard yelled “I thought you were going home to me.
I decided to stay a bit longer and watch this crazy nightmare comedy.

Premium MemberDick the Bully

I had not been on another poetry site even a week
And l had already crossed paths with a bully
A self appointed “Professor of Poetry” it seems
Who spewed out rude comments regularly

Now, I don’t know your name
So I will call you Richard
(DICK for short!)
Insulting and belittling
Others poems and effort
Is not called advice or support!

Now DICK, some of us just like to write poems
Simple though that may be
Not for judgement or accolades
Just for the joy of poetry

Being hurtful , rude and insensitive
Arrogant, intimidating and just unkind
Does not make you knowledgeable or gifted
Or a poet of any kind

DICK ….your words have no impact on me
I am strong and your words meaningless and weak
My concern is for the young or vulnerable
Who may be affected or scarred by this garbage you speak

DICK ….. I suspect you think you are superior
Intelligent and of a better class
But DICK I think you are doing a handstand
And talking out your ar*e

Who gave you the right to be so judgemental
To think it’s ok to humiliate and be cruel
DICK you just make yourself look like
An absolute DICK fool …..

Democracy Ii

Be it under any alien dome,
It’s something that begins right at home—
A fact quite forgotten
By its very backbone,
Not all roads need always lead to Rome!

Poet’s note: USA, the self-appointed global exporters of democracy was on the verge of civil war. It has been always too ready to pontificate the world and to export democratic sermons. It is time they learn, charity begins at home. Read the earlier Limerick titled, Democracy. Here is another lesson for USA.
