See Spot Run..
This icon of our education
yes..of youth..but continuing..
The question might be asked:
Was our education ever other
than variations of Spot running..?
Sophistication arrived but
the strong belief of separation:
Spot..and Dick..and Jane
remains.. seemingly implanted
unquestioned and permanently
in what we call our world..
Through the years
some have found discomfort
a hole at the center of
Spot's adventures..
A vague unsettling
blossoming on some days
to sharp fragmentary pain..
In our many searchings
for restoration and fulfillment
might we in some momentary
clarity..see Spot not running
but dissolving into
the light of day...
You may think you know me -
having read my writings of random free falling poetry,
delved into my psyche in the hidden words within my poems.
I assure you, You do not know me. No, you don't.
You do not know or understand my mind or thoughts,
you cannot fully see my hopes or dreams,
my pasts and present futures.
You cannot truly read my heart, only your own;
embrace life's love and pain and sorrow
nor any of those deep inner hiddem lost desires.
You do not, cannot know me
and I can say this with solid convictions;
for in all my subtle revelations and soul searchings,
in the prayers and solitary meditations of all my contemplative moments
I still -
do not know myself.
with all due respect to the Bryan Adams classic, this is my Bardish version:
heed my visage close thou wilt mark
to me thou meanest all
thy bosom enquire soul beside
wherein shall I be found
thy searchings done
hold thy tongue ere the effort all
speaketh not of a full forfeit
knowest thou forsooth
mine whole intent only is for thee
thy bosom enquire discover there
aught of secrets be
my impulse be thine stay mine breath
bequeathe my lot in surrender all
speaketh not of a full forfeit
fair taken I for aught I desireth
verily thou knowest
mine whole intent only is for thee
none ardor is belike thine
nor couldst return beyond its like
none adobe prevail cept thee therein
fully and in perpetuum
thy bosom inquire
verily
hold thy tongue ere the effort all
not stayed am I for full desire
wouldst war for thee
forswear for thee
take leave mine footsteps
givst mine breath for thee
thou knowest verily
mine whole intent only is for thee.
Be the new day of my new year, be
the answer to my searchings. Let me
walk your side in care, and in times
of sorrow let me share. Take my
thoughts and feed your dreams, take
this heart and sleep within. Be my
new day of this new year, let your
aura fill the air, let every breathe I
take be of you. Where you have
darkness let me be your light, and
when your lonely to warm your
night. Long may my hands hold,
arms enfold, and through our
journey love be sold. Be my new
day of the new year, every year.
