Lost in the city,
floundering alone
caught on the hook
of an abandoned dream
fighting in vain
against modernity’s pull
living the lie
—of eternity’s pain
(The New Room: July, 2021)
Getting old I view death differently,
Recalling both the good days and the bad.
Eventually, everyone will die
And death should be as momentous as birth
Tomorrow's sunrise grieves today's sunset.
Escaping the confines of the body
Souls seek out higher planes of existence.
Christ faced death before He was resurrected
And through death, we’ll gain life everlasting.
Ponder the worth of a world without death
Eternity would be boringly long.

C-ircumvent the conflict,
A-void the nonsense strife;
M-ake a sign of peace,
I-nstead of war in life.
L-eave the chaos behind,
L-etting the hate fade away;
E-arly twenty-ninth of June, make it a lovely day.
V-ictory is truly attained,
E-scaping from animosity;
L-ove eventually prevails,
A-nger yields to harmony.
S-eek the open line,
Q-uest for the telephone;
U-se the friendly talk,
E-vade the conflict
Z-one.
I thought of “Far Away” as an escaping,
wild trees and flowers in all their rapt fury.
To be free of love and all its stiff draping,
fleeing dark emotions in a swift hurry.
Now I see bright orchids in their wild scaping,
shades of magenta, aqua and snow flurries.
But suitcases hold Things, not a heavy heart.
I must retrace my steps, begin at the start
of where it all went wrong, damage of colors
not our own. The inks and umbers invading
our love's pastel sanctity, bringing dolor
to what was once a chartreuse-golden shading
of sunshine and jade meadows, not the pallor
introduced by shadowy words evading
questions asked. Love's creations are worth saving.
I must return home, to sate the heart's craving.

In more quiet moments, I may look inward
Noticing about myself
The little things that need changing as well as
Regular traits that I could still improve on.
Obliteration of a few bad habits seems impossible to me,
So toning them WAY down seems the logical solution.
Perhaps it’s pure laziness; I like to think I’m being realistic.
Escaping my weaknesses is not an easy thing!
Certainly I can at least try to make the good in me
Tip the scales to far outweigh the bad!
I have a very keen sense of self - of how I can be at my best -
Open, cheerful, steadfast, senstivie, conscientious.
Naturally fun-loving, I seldom self-reflect! That’s just how I roll.

T~he minds eye closes and envisages the overflowing of true love from one's
H~eart, gravitating to thy One and Only;
E~scaping in conjunction with
B~rackish water adjoining to thy feet; taking note of the wind whispering
E~ver so seamlessly through thine ears while striding upon the seashore.
A~ccompanied by incessant love; keeping hold of hands on no
U~nearthly occasion of relinquishing. Kissing til nightfall loses its color
T~o the openings of daybreak; swimming amongst the creatures of sea
Y~earning to never part, til the extent life ventures to vanish...yet...
O~ftentimes the minds eye reopens to reality; though
F~or the time being
L~et's live every moment as
O~ur last, tracing God first and
V~ersifying our lives to that of the world as such...
E~veryone shall witness and behold The Beauty of L~O~V~E.
