Dot to dot and dash to dash:
telegrams sent in a flash.
Electromagnetic force:
credit goes to Samuel Morse.
Dots connected on a map
by his magic tap-tap-tap.
Letters had a sequenced code
on the wire and down the road.
Dot is short and dash is long;
best if you don’t get them wrong.
Common letters, shorter bursts;
Q, X, Y, Z - they’re the worst.
Between letters, subtle breaks;
must have been some fun mistakes!
Senders need no nervous twitch,
insult in-laws with a glitch.
Decode takes a fine-tuned ear,
pen and paper always near.
First one sent: “what hath God wrought?”
Later, Hitler joined the plot.
Shot himself, the Reich, in flame;
Goering’s ’gram held partial blame.
Dot to dot and dash to dash:
Transatlantic distance smashed.
Dash to dash and dot to dot -
Now look at the phone I’ve got!

Like a breath of fresh air
You comfort me within
Like a story I want to experience
I always pick you up again
I want to line up the pieces
Yours and mine
You say everything right now is okay
And that you're "fine"
I could do better
If you decide to see
Let's go on that beach walk
Just you and me
So here I am dropping lines
A trail of bread crumbs from a subtle source
My endearing telegraph
Like the beat of Samuel Morse
But patience is something I lack
So this is me moving on
If one day you feel the same
I hope I am not gone
while sitting at a local literary Louvre
with artists and some other radicals
waiting for return of grammatical groove
that had left me on today's sabbatical
I stumbled for some heartfelt words
to share with you of artistic notions
of whether art is abstract or more absurd
can it cure our ills with colourful potions
and quietly the souls walked the walls
of painted lands and many female forms
to search their own inspiration's calls
outside their box of artistic norms
macroed with micro muted brush lines
of sultry legs and strong countenance
whatever treasure is sought we will find
with some ingrained artful provenance
like Samuel Morse as student of masters
copied Da Vinci from the Parisian museum
hued new light on Mona Lisa to recast her
and express his own artistic freedom
we give out hope of showing of ourselves
that bit of soul our heart holds close
down new pathways that we delve
our hands stretch toward divine, almost
