There once was a lady
confined to her bed.
The other alternatives?
Best left unsaid.
She’d danced with the demons,
the belle of the ball.
Kisqali, Abraxane,
she’d sampled them all.
Enhertu played tango
at least for a while
Til Master Trodelvy
tapped in with a smile.
Exhausted, she holds off
the devil in red;
what he has in mind
is best left unsaid.
No, she’ll take the bridegroom
when he comes to call,
For he sees her beauty
though wasted and small.
And I’ll let him have her
though I’d be remiss
to send her off heavenly
sans one last kiss.
Though I’d like an answer
a voice in my head
says although you can, sir
it’s best left unsaid.

How merciful the is Neptune
that we must travel the sea
does Poseidon make the waters
choppy might man wish to
conquer the seas
As woman treats the world horrible
might she find a lover then
she'll smile
Vishwakarma ,ay bless the ship maker
only for Neptune to curse him
the ship stands tall in the what are cat tails
to drift into the stream
through the creeks and rivers
and out to the sea.
The shoots of cattails
resemble the taste
smiles when mentioned
marvels the taste

My three-year-old son stood next to me
as I watered our garden of flowers
The zinnias nodded their blossoms
As if grateful for garden hose showers
A firework array, was that garden display
Of pinks, yellows, orange,
Purple, red
When my son asked the cutest of
Questions to me
In the darlingest way ever said
As he eyed that large bumbling bee
That he found alarmingly too close to me
Not quite in fear, as its buzzing drew near
And it sampled of pollens so dear
But at his first sight of that yellow bright fuzz
And the loud droning volume of that giant bee's buzz
He just needed to know all was right
He asked
"Mommy? Do humming bee's bite?"

Once a fox was lost in the field;
No shelter, friends, nor food to yield!
His fending hope has lastly keened,
But stood once more when prey he gleaned...
There he melded with flocks of sheep,
Dealing and coping with their keep;
Hardly bids to maintain his guise,
Yet still a fox behind those eyes!
He has sampled reed grass, at least,
Though fox despised such meager feast;
Athirst he was for blood and flesh—
The fox's hunt proved fruitless, fresh.
Then he crept at night, so sullen,
Watched his cozy troupe, heart swollen;
With eyes so wild, his mask now falls,
And all his care breaks castle walls!
He tried to curb his morbid crave,
But nature's call he could not stave;
And within a breath, off he gave—
A savage slaughter none could save!
His lethal claws that pierced through flesh,
His irksome fangs of crimson mesh;
The fox that once ate grassy fare,
Now dwells in dreams of dark nightmare!
The fox reveled, now bloody fed;
All took place as his hunt had led.
The fox is glad, the sheep lie dead—
Away he prowls, new prey ahead...

Being alone is an amethyst art
Gift to the soul searching dark
Mahogany moments
Shaping reality despite chaos or peace
Pearl perception of reality red from
blood of dead dreams
that will rise like a purple phoenix
inside blue breast
Walking in spirit with ancient ancestors
yet alone in the Streets of solitude
Fire in eyes
forgiving the lies
of whimsical fairy tales
That once spun hope
Like a golden thread
Around amber head
Ideals that float
like glowing halo
Keeping character afloat
Despite a sinking black hole
Left in the street to trap
Those who seem to nap
Sleep walking on the path
Sleeping Beauty is an example
Fairytale of slumber sampled
By a cherry kiss on lips
Is to die for or to live
If Prince never comes
what gives
rainbows inside to exist
Whether the field of forgiveness has been watered or not
Be the rose that grows
Through concrete streets with heart
Determined to thrive despite odds
With a scent of salvation a street soldier for God

Picture on the Parlor Wall 9-27-24
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sampler on the Parlor Wall
Shadows born from dawdling light
Stretch across a firelit room set with porcelain cups,
From tea parties long ago and faraway,
With an invitation to sample sweets and savories
Like the sampler on the parlor wall.
Beneath neat rows of alphabets stories gather,
Verses stitched with silk and dreams
And numbers that taught a woman’s craft –
A child’s wishes fly with birds and lady bugs –
Wishes to convince a suitor at the door of her wifely worth
In tidy stitches foreshadowing an orderly life.
A young lady-girl in pantaloons and blue sashes
Weaves circles of symphonic dots in French wheels
While lazy daisy chains meander on her linen fields -
Magic flares in her zigzag lines, her wishes on wooly stars.
No signature remains from her little hand -
Her hearth, her home, her heart –
Only a legacy of butterflies and roses sampled on a parlor wall
And a tiny scarlet dot of imperfection like a signature remains
Embroidered into a sampler embracing each dawn and dusk.
Burly bright boys
And curly maned misses
Naughty night noise
And candy cane kisses
Sweetly sampled shapes
And soft hungered hips
Nicely nibbled napes
And lollipop lips
Gleeful girlish giggles
And playing footsie all day
Wishful wanton wiggles
And tootsie rolls in the hay
Learning what life had to offer
I came often, drank deep..
at the well with you,
fresh as spring snow melt.
Hear it echo - is it still
life with you at the well..
with you at the well-
is it still.
In cup or quart or teaspoon sampled..
best in life, some sour too, hear it echo,
is it true, surely so,
surely so.
Never sorry for memory of taste,
so sweet and bubbly, oh
nah dear-
lemon cherry fizz don't even come close.
Just wish I coulda stayed at the fountain
drinking you in,
effervescently refreshing you..
quinching my thirst,
gosh what a taste.
At the World of Coca Cola
Were mementos by the score,
All of Coke-related products,
Bottles, cans and so much more.
There were posters from the 50’s,
Coke machines and pins and toys
And collectors’ items for the drink
Most everyone enjoys.
After watching little films and
Taking quizzes just for fun,
Our last stop was in the tasting room
Before the tour was done.
There we sampled many flavors
‘Til at last we’d had enough.
I would recommend a visit,
Though I never drink the stuff!
I went for a walk with an Aardvark
In a forest of beer bottle trees,
Entranced by their gentle swaying,
Hanging and clinking in the breeze;
And I found a top spanner bush
Growing at a convenient height
And me and my friend the Aardvark
Settled down for our boozy night.
We sampled the pale ale and bitter
Then the stout the mild and the pils
Organically brewed with such care
To avoid any hangover ills.
And my Aardvark danced a jig,
Accompanying himself on a lute
The wind blowing through the bottles
Providing a raw wild sort of flute.
We discussed the ways of the world
Each providing our original views
On such as the Albigensian heresies
And the standard of reporting the news.
Then a bell rang through that forest
And a voice rolled in my head
Its closing time for the winter
And I woke up alone in my bed.
I sprang from my sheets with a zest
Had a quick burst on my tambourine
Before cleaning my teeth with such energy
On my oral hygiene machine.
I ate toast and two eggs for my brekkers
With a selection of blended fruit teas
Hungry from my walk with that Aardvark
In that forest of beer bottle trees.
In days gone by, your needs were met
By going to the store.
You looked and touched and sampled
What was out there on the floor.
A couch, a dress, a pair of shoes,
Some dishes, a TV –
Whatever you were searching for
Was there for you to see.
But now your quest is on a screen
And so you scroll and stare,
Then check a bunch of other sites
So that you can compare.
You won’t know if it’s comfortable -
The fit might be in doubt –
Until the truck delivers it
And you can check it out.
Of course, you can return it.
Still, I miss those times before,
When we shopped for things in person,
Which we don’t do anymore.
