...that builds its scaffolding within
neuro-rivulets
brain tidy
or caught in random whims
to form a sense of self

memory, where it resides
with packed up boxes of old photos
sometimes in mistakes made
that rub me the wrong way
like the gray torn threads of frozen seams

no microscope needed
recalling
a spring of sprawling promises
in a stubbled field where lovers once cooed

memory tousled like skipping ropes abandoned
or in your grandmother's hands craddling tea
fitting thoughts of tip-toed dancing
or childhood blips of snatching snowflakes
                                     on tongues and lashes

sometimes the shoes it wears are boots in war song blues
or slippers that breeze through rosebud dreams
                             sleighs down hills
                             and sugar apples at Halloween

beyond the frame of what has ceased
memories like rock yokes about our necks
or the morning bread on which to feast

Premium Member Just Saying

To say that I don't give a darn about your opinion
or what you say is a big fat lie.
I am human. I want you to think well of me.
With that being said, I will not let what you say
good or bad, rub me the wrong way.
I spent a lot of years letting folk dictate my life.
I was a doormat, and folk walked all over me
continuously.
Until I realized that the only opinion that really
mattered was the one that I felt about myself.
Think about it; we are with ourselves the most, even
when are in a room full of people.
So like me or hate me, I shall be ok.

Purring and Reoccuring

Purring and Reoccurring

When my cat was purring
Seems to be reoccurring
With him words minced
Then me rubbed against.
That was so reassuring.

Jack and Henry never
rub me the wrong way.

Nothing Good To Say

People who never
have anything good to say,
their mean, abrasive voices
rub me the wrong way

Everything they say
sounds twisted and ugly
If they hear a kind word,
they utter something filthy

They love to insult,
they love to incite
They love to spit venom,
they love to bite

Their words are like
archers shooting poison darts
They love to sling 'em,
aiming straight for the heart

People who never
have anything good to say,
their harsh, rough voices
rub me the wrong way

Hard speeches
full of hateful words
That's the kind of talking they like to hear

Snide comments
full of hurtful words
That's the kind of talking they hold dear

People who never
have nothing good to say,
God won't hear their evil words,
should they ever need to pray
