I'm afraid it was the sun
as it coaxed leaves to glisten
within a gentle background
of white noise breeze that
made the grass sway
I too accuse the reds
and the yellows of flowers
that knowingly indulged
their vibrancy, violet
the cunning ringleader
whose plan was hatched
that fateful day
when I stood inadvertently
murmuring discreetly
appreciating, but a frog
had jumped beside me
I didn't know he was there
I hope I can count on
his discretion

Life is easier
if you learn
To manage
your time.
If you can't
do lock-up,
Don't do
the crime.
You get
more done
by focusing
On one thing.
If you missed it,
You can get it
on the upswing.
Try to improve
by 1% every day.
Don't make excuses,
Never delay.
Problem
solve
with a
little logic.
Stay aware
Sidestep the
dark magic.
Keep a high value
Network of friends.
If you get the chance,
Make amends.
Be honest and
always work hard.
Don't be afraid to
show your scar.
Seek and you can
find your purpose.
You could be
the ringleader
of a circus.
Walk at your
own pace,
Stay on your
side of the road.
Sometimes the
Prince can turn
Into a toad.
Don't hesitate
when you
should act.
Pay attention
so you can find
your way back.
Experience what
you feel and learn.
Remember you can
always make
A U-Turn.
Make all
things count.
It could be
pouring rain
or in a drought.
If you have it,
Learn to give.
Last but not least,
Live and let live.

You motormouths, that pull the strings of life,
Marionettes of Pied that seek confusion.
Your piper teeth are chattering with strife,
Like a Jedi, with wave of hand delusion
“Come one! Come all!” the ringleader twists knife.
The press buries the truth, besets illusion.
The circus clown smiles whilst Hans-ing fairy whales,
Marionettes of Pied with Moby-Dick-sized tales.

It is not the kind of conversation that is exigent to the circumstances.
When questioned, we could have feigned its importance, but why?
It was a superfluous conversation, and no one should have asked.
But the police detectives did, because there was a murder to solve
Mrs. Peets, the main detective used multifarious methods to get us to talk.
Attempted to get us to confess to what we had been sharing in the booth.
One look from Migs, our ringleader squelched us immediately.
Migs’ rare effulgence has elevated him to sovereign of our little gang.
Miss Bee, another detective played with the amaranth on the table.
I watched tiny purple buds fall onto the white linen tablecloth.
I am pretty sure this plant is pestilent, but kept my mouth shut.
They both tried to foment discord, but we were slick and walked away uncharged.

The rinky-dink ringmaster was a ringleader.
His yellow perched ring-tail cat had a ringside seat
His sassy ring-necked eagle had a ring meter.
His knowledge of Ring of Nibelung could not be beat.
He called his circus the Rinky-dink Ring-a-Ding-Ding-Ding.
We sat in ringside seats, staring at the first animal filled ring.
We are the Ring-A-Ding-Dongs, he said with a giant smile.
The ring-tail cat began to circle the crowd, intriguing us for a while.
The ring-necked eagle began to fly around the Ring-A-Ding tent.
Before it was over, I was on the edge of my seat, glad I had went.

The nonconformists decided to band.
And form a friendship club in a new land.
A new land could not be found anywhere.
Plus crazy disagreements were everywhere.
Intense yelling ensued and fighting broke out.
Nonconformity was rampant, and all about.
I did not think it would work a ringleader said.
For if anyone said green, I would have to say red.
A club was always a dumb idea, said another.
I can’t even get along with my own stupid brother.
I can’t believe I ever agreed, said a third.
Knowing I have to always have the last word.

honey, you are not responsible for the skeletons hidden in his closet.
rinse. repeat.
you are not responsible for the bones threatening to spill out.
he can call you a doll and watch your cheeks redden,
but honey,
you are only a doll because he has taken hold of your strings.
you are not his marionette doll,
not a circus attraction
with his name on the door.
honey, he is not the ringleader.
has no one told you, you aren’t
responsible for taking apart his ribcage and fitting yourself beside his heart;
that you are not responsible for the emptiness you find there.
he can kiss you sweetly and fill you with butterflies,
but no one told you that butterflies turn into bees.
and honey, more often than not,
they sting.

Smash of a broken lock
Whispering, they talk
Time, it seems to stop
They’re in my house,
They’re inside.
Searching for some loot
A tried and tested crew
What damage they may do
When they find us,
They'll find us.
Footfalls of the stairs
They think I’m unaware
That I would never dare
Come out there,
Go out there.
Doors smash, they see my wife
He brandishes a knife
My shotgun roars to life
He falls down,
He’s bleeding.
The others turn and fly
The ringleader he lies
Looks confused as he dies…
He made his choice
...So be it.

Does he know that when I dream in the day?
The earth fades past the crown of your smile
A whirlwind in the reality awakened in front of my daze
And all that was once silent now motion and spry
As you, the ringleader for every movement’s spark
In this moment when you are all that there is
Steadfast in the notion of the whirlwind of breeze
Reality a continuum of time traveling wake
Shakes rocked and backed by the brilliant light
Your presence is the universe's calm of chaotic sight
For suddenly the moment is overtaken by a thought
Infiltrated by your presence
Unleashing upon my breast a vengeance
Body shaking in a frenzies wave
Caught in a dream of a distant array
Until there is but a dance of shimmer through my feet
Body motion endless towards the rushing energy
Of the reverie happening before my eyes
And suddenly my heart leaps
There continues the day’s flight.

Our appetite wanted more
Bun and cheese, or potted meat sandwich
They were handed out all in a row
From his small room
Its front door slightly ajar
One unbelievable
Kind hand, fed more than four
Reginald led the way and spoke
"Mr. Drummings, yu hav anyting?"
It was rare not hearing locks unlocked
The ringleader was mostly welcome in
Four siblings, four sandwiches, one hand waving us on
He would feed himself in silence
Inside, where
Some unspeakable spirit lurked
Hunger was no joke to Reg. and us
His role of self-reliance
Modeled after same sex
Granny, and Papa, and Mama had no clue
One afternoon, it was just Reg. and I
In the twinkle of an eye, this opening
My stomach gnawed and caved
A chubby hand shooed me on with a wave
I walked toward St. John (our Primary school)
Felt a sudden sickening lonesomeness
Later, much later
The old man lived
In backyard he dwell
Beside body builder's home
His small wooden abode, seemed enough
It sat humbled, beside Reggie's concrete home
Was the old man eased, from his burden?

life is more than a circus
the ringleader has a painted smile
and a plastic heart
what can y ou do when you're helpless
a lion locked in it's cage
just keep trying to claw out
never give up
the hope keeps you going
the bit of faith that one day you might just get out of this act and roam the jungle.

AND IN THE CENTER RING
We got so very close
close to each other
and close to our dream
a river's song or strawberries and cream
you got so close
naked in your moments of monumental steaminess
clothed when your selfishness demanded more than you deserved
and gave me too little of what I merited
but I was the main actor in a circus
and you are the ringleader
“LADIES AND GENTLEMEN
IF YOU'LL FOCUS YOUR EYES ON THE
CENTER RING YOU'LL SEE
THE GREATEST FOOL WHO I TAMED
ALL BY SELF.
SURE, SOMETIMES HE LASHED OUT AND BROKE SOME VALUABLE small figurines
BUT NOW I CAN ENTER THE RING AND THE ONLY THING HE WILL DO IS LOVE ME”
well I ain't going to be one of the hundred clowns that come out of a little car
it's time for me to walk afar
to the closest bar
you and me
because we got so close to eternity
now i'll throw back a few
we came so close
me and you

Ladies and gentleman
Come in come all, take a seat
Relax take a load off
And enjoy the show
Be happy, be merry for you all are
The guests, my guests
The audience to the greatest show on earth
We have a mystical show for you all tonight
Dazzling lights will send your mind in a scurry for reality
Freaks that will frighten your soul, but I dare you to look away
Exotic animals that are bred to entertain even the closest of minded
Why am I wearing this mask? You might be asking yourself
Are you feeling a little dizzy? Are your eyes a little watery?
It’s called mustard gas, used in World War 1
And you all are breathing it in, oh this truly is the greatest of all shows
Go ahead and run, you have no place to go.
And for your final performance, I will rise to the rafters
And watch you all die
I am your ringleader, goodnight!
