Time’s never obliged ~
Heedless, impetuous fame
Exacerbates traits…
But factitious facades fade
UV-rays on gelcoats, craze…
Retouch, unfinished ~
Tide oblivious, streams on
Rising and ebbing…
Eyes old smile recognition
Young ones urge explanation…
Names so soon obscure ~
Ocean sinking impetus
Leaves afloat, excerpts…
Darn! That cannonball race zipped!
Speedy generations flash…

He was so super cool
Who on the screen bent the rules
When the sheriff was in pursuit with no holds barred
The 70’s rocked in part because of Burt Reynolds starred
And the Black Pontiac Firebird running ahead
With Sally Fields as his sidekick without dread
Jackie Gleason the sheriff chasing the sumbich in his way
To deliver a truck load of beer as he raced away
So Smokey and the Bandit is history now
But we will remember him as the epitome of cool with a dash of pow
Vale to a screen hero who passed today
A movie star who made us laugh and was cool in his own way.

INFORMED BY A WHISPER
Enveloped in the mysterious
viewed indistinctly as through
a mist,waiting the call.The
inspiration of genius to be
invoked by success,wild freedom
and liberty of imagination informed
by a whisper, unconscious of the
operation of the mind,left as
a legacy from this tenancy of
life.To separate that which is
true from only the plausible,
caution and circumspection is
discarded by genius and taste.
A phrasis from Joshua Reynolds discourses
*A Phrasis is a structured verse where the poet uses selected prose phrases of another writer’s(not a poet) to compile unique poetry therefrom as a tribute thereto, the word phrasis is Greek for phrase.

In 1932, on April Fools’ Day,
you entered this world, and are still with us today.
Your original first names were Mary Frances.
Your birthplace was the city of El Paso, Texas.
In Burbank, California, you won a beauty contest.
This started your career many consider among the best.
Warner Brothers and later MGM placed you on the big screen.
In many films and television shows, you would be seen.
It was here you were given your new name “Debbie”.
You have possessed uncanny talent along with great beauty.
Your act contains fine music and funny comedy.
Among your hit songs is the fifties classic “Tammy”.
A friend of mine dragged me down to Atlantic City.
After seeing your act, I now consider myself lucky.
I thank wikipedia.org online encyclopedia for information I obtained to write this poem.

Pain in the prophecy of wings through sultry sky
Orchestrating vision, love, destiny
Emancipating the tongue to tattle tales taloned with grief
Triumphing in truth to tumult another joy
Reel all poets in, glistening on a silver sliver of string
Yearning to for a final travail, immortality on wing.
Please God, tonight, dry her tears
Oyster her heart in your love
Eternal comforter of cares
Mystic center of the universe, a dove
Perpetual are music mustering our minds to sing
Overtones from the litany of emotions
Easeless wonder, sacrifice, oblation, offering
Tremulous thunder eastering devotions
Sweetly from the ragged anthems of our gift.

it started
as fevered
bee sting
on tongue—
then lips
gone
like beaver-gnawed
tree stumps—
then the chin
till like
some ruined
Greek statue
you lay
still
awaiting
a new chance—
the planting
in warm earth
to grow again
