Citrus Note

And I loved him at that
March midnight, the one when spring was
late. They say she was caught up
in a reminiscent movie
—even love was black and white back then

What I wouldn’t give
for those days, side by side in
July's bliss, brewing
summer coffee. It had a hint of
tangerine. Isn't it miraculous? How
the bitter umber can carry
a note so refreshingly sweet—

        Yes, dear, I know it's
utterly still bitter, but even he will agree:

After sips of numbing acrid
we were less sour than sweet

If I Could Love Thee

If I could love thee in a thousand ways
The warmth of the sun's rays on chilly climes
Refreshingly cool breeze on humid days
As the soothing music during bedtimes

Your safe shelter amidst torrential rain
Limitless such as the deep blue ocean
A blazing wildfire that is out of rein
A serenading lover in motion

Fervour of the river to meet the sea
Butterflies drawn to colourful flowers
Dancing on a moonlit night, you and me
Nature’s resurrection after showers

Love is a kaleidoscope of colours
Beloved’s portrait in watercolours

Seijaku

As the sun goes west of my school building
day's tiring trying work starts to windup
ears tremble mildly to hear school bell ring
Joy quickens to brush away lesser thing

My own loving heart herds me back to home
With spring in steps I tenderly pick up
flowers, fruits, bread, milk, vegetables and rice
on way thoughts are refreshingly nice

After the crossing I take the right turn
my footsteps are heard to the only one
rushes to greet me, running recklessly
I just kneel to receive my dog Duffy

He tripples like horse when he has made a mess
welcomed me to house strewn with paper bits,
plants separated from root, mud and pots
I transcend the limits of silent thoughts

I put bag, box down. I clear the chaos,
In time everything is in order, with
selfless, humble love Duffy squats Zazen
Life begins anew, world brightens again

It is conscious love that brings peace and bliss
only Mindful thoughts brings placidity
to care and be cared truly is blessing
Only Love and trust keeps one's world spinning

Premium MemberPoetic Inhalation

I'm perplexed! My breath chocks as Euterpe, Calliope,
Erato, Apollo, and modest Muses leading me
Through the refreshingly flooding streams of Antiope
To heavens, where I am, like an eagle, endlessly free

I can breathe here a frankincense-filled aromatic air.
In whose flow my atria-ventricular blocks open
Pranayama, whose parikrama in performance is rare
It overwhelms, as though the dam of feelings is broken.

When talons cannot grab prey, when feathers stick to the chest,
When, like an eagle, I meet the challenge of 'do' or 'die'
I go to the hills. I struggle the worst and pass my test.
In each effort, as though a mother in labour, I sigh.

In each poetic breath, I see the Brahman at the helm.
Does Brahman see my poems as I wish him to see them?

Graduate Congratulated With a Counseling

To you, Geoffrey, congratulation
On your gladdening Graduation
Well-deserved: the standing ovation:
You are ready to serve your nation….

However, I fear, from your bedroom,
As you wait for the right job to loom!
Spurious has been the worshipped oil boom,
A compatriot leaning on it – Doom!

Now, to face it, one shapes one’s future,
Defeats a drag-me-down subculture,
Adds refreshingly to one’s stature,
Story rewrites and paints new picture…

How to deal with eyes for the TV,
Each day to some firm with your CV,
Hopes fastening on future PV:
Some patients are treated no IV…

I have said but part of all the things,
The main point: A Graduate tries hand swings;
In his ears I-can-open-doors rings…
Forever above Angels with wings.

So Quiet Within the Trees

so quiet within the trees
all movement is stillness
escaping is the hardest job
life expectancy increases
my heart beats with steady comfort
my blood pressure goes back to normal to reunite with calm

so quiet within the trees
all actuality is realness
proper adequate rest is realized, and i do not feel robbed
the feel of complete restfulness is full, and it is not spread out in pieces
pure peacefulness presents itself readily, not in rare, calm spurts
it feels so refreshingly gratifying to catch the perfectly clear air in each cupped palm

God Knows Chemistry Proper

sitting indian style underwater
learning to breathe easier
when i float back up,
she greets me with a smile that is all her own
she squats down to kiss me
i smile and pull her back for another
two people who once loathed each other finding common ground in love
God Knows Chemistry Proper

watching her sway to sheena easton's 'morning train (9 to 5)
making cheesy tuna pasta, texas toast, and a salad for us
holding back tears for missing what i missed for all those years
wholly thankful for personal growth and maturation
my heart so full of love in ways so wonderfully unexpected
her smiling back at me with a love so refreshingly obvious
two people now noticing that life is what we make it in sincerity's wisdom
God Knows Chemisty Proper

Premium MemberI Dust Off My Gray Sandals and Leave

My life is tan, my life is gray
I dust off my sandals and leave today
I kick my feet and flap my wings shoving off with my might.
Seeking something refreshingly new is my God-given right.

I see some orange in the distance, so I kick my feet.
Yellow and pink appear, I hear a cardinal tweet.
My new color is red, and the cool air is fresh and fine.
I am a prospector looking for a gold mine.

I am flying flat out now, toward the twilight sun.
Thinking of all the things that will happen, most of them fun.
The world is full of strangers who could be solid delight.
I think of them fondly, as I lean toward them with light.

My life has been tan, my days have been a dull gray.
I am so glad that I decided to start this journey today.
I kick my feet and flap my wings shoving off with my might.
Seeking something refreshingly new is my God-given right.

Premium MemberSummer Rain

Summer rain from darkened clouds pouring
Like the windows of heaven have opened
After the blasting heat, so welcomed, adoring,
Waves of hell from Satan’s seething broken,

No lightning striking, no thunderous booming
A gentle, steady rain like a mother’s soothing
Whispers o’er the hurting tears all-consuming,
Steady summer rain is God’s way of approving.

Relief from the blanching dryness in the field
Wilting blossoms lift their heads refreshingly,
Drink from the cup of heaven’s gracious yield
Like an afternoon sip of freshly-made sun tea.

CONTEMPLATION

a sacred space
brooding
 black
 sombre
a place
of
 quiet
silence
alone

 thoughts

a place
of

with
 atmospheric

a memorial to
yeserdays
reverberating
inside
a recital
of inspiration
 initially
 imagined
then considered
&
 embodied
with essentials
refreshingly
 refined
then
carefully-detailed

NOTE:THIS IS AN OPEN(organic) FORM VERSE using spaces&breaks without grammatical symbols ,the ' open' relies upon 'the one breath limitation' & so inherently requires the 'reader' (reciter) to input and responds thus making this enigmatic form a two way interplay & interpretatIon unique to the moment& changing according to mood is inherently variable.

Premium MemberI Am a Chameleon

I am an enthusiastic rainbow chameleon
until I am a cumbersome ox
Wait! Hold up! Stop!
I meant I am a excited spotted lizard

mercurial and fast moving
I slide from granite rock to mica rock
slithering in wetness, shaking my rattlers
Watch out world! I am dangerous!

I find myself flying high in the azure sky
with heart and confidence of the American bald eagle
you had better not shoot me, Arkansas!
There is a ten thousand dollar fine, you know

In but minutes I fall from the peace of the clouds,
landing in refreshingly cool lake water
I swim around in here, with the joy of a golden retriever
finding some natural springs

life is an adventure, and I mean to taste it all
You cannot catch me. I’m the gingerbread man.
Warm and hot from the oven.
Sliding down the hill in a white rabbit lined parka.

I live my truth, spouting it into my art and my poems.
I remember when I found myself; I was twenty-eight.
I knew the only opinion that mattered any more was my own.
Most freeing moment of my life!

Premium Member-is It Time- a Possible Choice If Given

Winter’s frost with freeze does creep
Question, do I go in a car to flee?
or do I bend a yielded knee
The season heralds itself with glee

Maybe, I will stay or to go with a timely migration
This like nature’s birds that flock in a V formation
I start to pack all of most of my things that I do need,
this as if a squirrel is packing seeds

The time to choose is now
There are only but a few leaves left on the trees
The chill wind is in the new air breeze;
flakes freeze then slowly recede

I go, and whizz in my car at highway speeds
Flight tickets are in my hands;
the itinerary is set for the Philippines, DR
or the country of Thailand

There, I put on a colorful short trunk
Pineapple juice of lemon and lime is refreshingly sipped
Then after, I take a dash for a cool ocean dip
Glad, I did make my decision fast;
for a sabbatical of time does not ever last
