millions of blossoms
fluttering freshness like spring
wave goodbye to clouds

nice noon has gone still
sweet lifetime wears a big smile

Blackbird singing in a redbud tree,
Why such a sad and mournful ditty?
I like your song, but, oh, tell me
Is it meant to please or pity?

Little brook babbling to a willow tree
Of where he's been and where he's bound for.
He tells his tales so joyfully,
But willow's he can't stick around for.

I'M a Redbud Tree

I’m a Redbud Tree

Once I was a sapling
With four thin trunks from the ground,
Hot pink blossoms clung to the forks,
Of shoots of tiny branches.

And I grew.

One trunk made a branch
And there was room for five,
Thriving, red, I was lovely,
My leaves heart shaped.

And i grew.

Until one trunk became diseased,
And then there were four;
Invisible tears fell to

The Old Redbud Tree

There is a gnarled redbud left standing,
It blossomed pink year after year;
Four fused trunks grew from its base,
Its heart-shaped leaves said “dear.”

A new branch grew from one, making five,
The little tree was oh, so proud of its size,
And for decades it did healthy look,
Until one year one branch snapped and died.
