I’m a Redbud Tree
Once I was a sapling
With four thin trunks from the ground,
Hot pink blossoms clung to the forks,
Of shoots of tiny branches.
And I grew.
One trunk made a branch
And there was room for five,
Thriving, red, I was lovely,
My leaves heart shaped.
And i grew.
Until one trunk became diseased,
And then there were four;
