Chinese medicine, thus hope is reduced,
albeit, it doesn't apply to Red Wolf.
Canis rufus, a deep southerner roost,
with southern hospitality, aloof,
unlike others of their kind. Family
oriented, bone structure limits brain
size ... small, seventy-five pounds ... tactfully,
per agility, standard weight. Ingrain
habits, eventually, were for naught
as they became extinct in the wild, when
local ranchers had mauls on their livestock,
they were rounded-up and confined. It's been
during World War II days. They've been restored,
it's back to the wilds, for the unexplored.

Just one election cycle ago
those without masks were scorned
bullied out of churches and stores
now its the other way around
(sneetches with stars-sneetches without)
They've really got the masses scrambling
dividing us by
skin tone
a bug
chromosomes
a wall of fear
our division is becoming a chasm
deep and wide
no climbing out
except on the broken neck of Christ.
My -my how easy it was to control the masses
without firing a shot
with a blood red flag and yellow stars
pocked with microscopic bugs
nights of broken glass and burning books all over again
those with stars those without
In case you haven't noticed..
our division is their strength
our chains-their liberation
we the sheep have surrounded ourselves
the red wolf is picking us off one by one
blood on their plutonium muzzles
Maybe the antidote IS a semi-automatic
brimming with a hollow tipped Christ..
freedom isn't for free
never was
those with stars-those without

Slowly they creep in,
The evil burning through the night.
The crickets sound the alarm,
Feet trampling grass as they run.
Owls turn a blind eye,
They fear for the outcome.
The caves swarmed with bats,
The essence draws near.
Into the night they fly,
The last catch of the day sneaks away.
Holwing voices and red eyes peer,
Footsteps approaching slowly.
The eyes vanish,
A slight growl enters their courage.
Trembling hands and sweaty feet.
Like a theif it takes and goes,
They fall to the ground.
Screaming ruptures the silence,
The beast confronts.
She stands her ground.
A clutched axe,
Her last resort.
A deep growl at her feet.
Those red eyes peer up,
Hints of sadness and pain linger.
Kneeling down she calms it,
Her hands filled with reassurance.
She stands,
The beast but a memory.
She turns keenly,
Observant of the carnage.
Hunters all around her,
Their remains a bloody pulp.
There was never a beast to hunt,
The rumored wolf was an illusion.
She grins with pleasure,
Fangs soaked with red.
She throws up her hood,
Another town is soon to suffer.
Who is she?
She is the demon,
She is the wolf,
She is Red Riding Hood.

In a field of ice
a small bird’s frozen corpse
snow scatters the ground
What else can be said about
a dead bird
I love you and I am sorry?
In this cold
hands are useless
In this cold
death’s precise exhale
Make a note of this on a yellow Post-it
stick it to a mirror
then look away
you are gone

Sunlight swells into buildings
rolls over my feet
gets trapped under my soles
At this moment
there is nothing more to say
When you rose to leave
your skirt
made the sound of a bird
caught in my hands
In the distance your silhouette
dark, then gray, then
birds landing on a statue
make the sound of your skirt leaving
Overhead a low jet noise
I say something
but cannot hear myself
and across the table
your chair, the emptiness

My days are spent
pondering about
your body's core
from the nape
of your neck
to the sole
of your feet
autumn leaves
surrounding
the savory trunk
boredom is removed
excitement entices
my sullen arousal
beneath the moonlight
a distant glow
awaken nestled
emotions

red wolf it was
patowatome-soix
this is what it means to me
what does it mean to you?
to me it means the love of life
and blood that keeps me here
also means to never back down
and never cower in faer
