A tusked wolf dips its paw into the brine
the sea is its restless mother.
A proto creature, its bones already growing
razorback fins and horns, it must seek a shell
to hide beneath. The fanged manatee dies for love.
Before the porpoise leapt, before the whale shipped
its gray prow,
Jekyll and Hyde clawed each other
through a gibbosity of flesh. Where the skin flew,
rat tails grew gills and jagged jaws, while
blind behemoths burst out from small pods.
a saline transitioning that even now
wave-washes my naked feet, as the sea
plows me deep -
and does this cold moonlight reveal
the hidden talons of my ever-flowing father?

Fin Whales are listed as, endangered
and are the second largest animal, on our planet
they swim in, California, Coral Triangle and Artic waters
and the ridge on their back, is nicknamed “razorback”
They have an unusual feature, as their lower left jaw
is just black, and lower right jaw, is bright white
They circle schools of fish, with their white side facing
to densify their prey, for an easy catch of fish
Commercial whaling, has killed hundreds of thousands
for oil, meat and baleen, to feed greedy humans
Iceland needs to end, their commercial annihilation
and we all need to end, climate change and pollution

Ellen’s pet, a razorback was always near.
Why this happened was never fully clear.
Pete wanted to court Ellen, but had fear.
Zee, her pig had chewed off another man’s ear.
Thinking he was silly, his friends would jeer.
Just go over and be a volunteer.
Fat razorback gave Pete quite the leer.
Seems the pig was smitten, felt he was dear.
Pete and Ellen ended up married clear.
Zee joined the wedding party in his tux gear.
This was the first time Pete knew pig was *****.
So they got him his own buddy to commandeer.

I have stood on many shores
and felt the long evolution of the deepest waves
where life spawns its leaping adaptions.
I have listened
to the trumpeting of great armored sea-bulls
echoing in the shallow bladder-wrack,
and on that splashing surface
invisible snouts blow from
an ancient depth below.
There where the tusked wolf
first dipped a paw into brine
a proto-creature struggling to survive
its bones already growing
razorback fins.
There also did the fanged manatee
thunder in its savage heart
as it plowed the screeching storms,
tempests that shaped its life
with its glittering saws.
Before the porpoise leapt
before the whale shipped its gray prow
Jekyll and Hyde clawed each other
through a gibbosity of flesh,
and where the skin flew
rat tails grew gills and jagged jaws,
behemoths burst from
slow wading, pod sheltering strays.
All churned in a rolling race
as if a keen edged spray
modeled bones,
a frantic saline transitioning
that even now
as I stand by a washing tide
calls and plows me deep
seeking my own extinct
and monstrous forms.

Pulses drown saturated elvers
As a crescent delivers it's catch
White bellied roaches slap and disperse
Pierced and broken suckers latch
Flushed forearms lock with a match
Bleached fingers curl fiercely
Cartilage and rods attach
Each standard raised taking a liberty
Vectors detonate a verse
Chassis release their clutch
Barbels gulp at a netted hearse
Miniscule painted boulders scratch
Humble timber bows with a screech
Discordant sea gulls sing their liturgy
Their hymns bellowed to receive a batch
A veneration
Before performing their red tipped ritual snickersee
The unbaptised draw a curse
Glossed umber in a ditch
The razorback plows a course
To encumber every stitch
A gullet evacuates an itchy apology
A heretic mutters a retorting blasphemy
Fulminations boom and detach
As cumulonimbi reload their artillery
Skulls stoop in sunless pitch
Anointed mantras convene for mercy
Receptacles are laden and rich
Weighted and blessed by her divinity

“Ole Brownie”
The meanest and the best,
Proven among the rest,
My dog in Arkansas, pope county,
I present, ole Brownie,
With first cold front,
Arkansans begin the hunt,
Razorback hogs,
with their dogs,
Now my dog Brownie,
Meanest hog dog in pope county,
A sight to see,
Even growls at me,
A heinz fifty seven,
Comes number seven of the eleven,
Impossible to see,
His pedigree,
Though no pedigree,
Visibly plain to see,
He was the dog for me,
By my shout of glee,
When he was given to me,
He was a handsome dog,
Though he loved to hog,
Part red bone hound,
Mixed with feist clown,
Would fight anything around,
Twas very plain he wasn’t a coward,
With teeth bared,
Who’s hoss or boss,
At any cost,
Often declared,
When disputes were aired,
Ain’t no fibbing,
Ears torn to ribbons,
His ears` he had sacrifices,
To his scrapping vice,
Anyhow, to finish my story,
Bout my dog of glory, ©.( “Razorback Hog Hunt”)
