Rayless Poems | Examples

Premium MemberMythical Moon By Day

As dragonflies squint in the rayless night.
My glimmer of whimsy embraces flight.
Yet faith wanes, and enthusiasm is slight.
As lambency falters—the horizon is bleak.
In a stupendous stupor—drifting on the creek.
All my hopes and wishes were dubious.
The path to gloat is fraught with malicious.
Each stage entailed making us furious.
My whimsy used to be—as bright as a rainbow.
Overall, they're vanishing - along with the glow.
Moon by day is superb, and myths delight.
Gibbous and full moons are rich and unique.
Crest of soft verve in love delirious
Moon by day tells us of how our might blow.

Drumfire Roars To Silence

A dense sky-rubble
trundled and spilled above the rooftops
a runaway thunder ground along unseen tracks,
a near salvo rocking mind-cradles,
then a muted detonation over a far off
storm bruised landscape.

The tumult cracked and sizzled-
leaden were the rayless shades.

I returned home in the nick of
a dispersing moment.

The house seemed crouched,
ceilings low and cowering;
a living-space quashed by a heavy hand
rooms sheltering from the weight of imminent
upheaval.

I paused for the searing glare of lightning
yet a deepening gloom
sparked no ignition nor flash;
only a pressing portent of menace.

Then as rapid as the booming
onslaught arrived
the heavens broke open,
gravity expelled a lighter breath
to rise ballooning into an airy light.

All who huddled beneath that cacophony
sighed now in shamed relief
a prayer unspoken upon their lips.

I did not leave my dwelling that day
until my timid tabby cat
bravely led the way.

My Fate

Asleep with abandoned hope and abated pride,
The attenuated sound of my breath hurts,
Barren opportunities painted my path...
Like a cruel artist with no benignant pity.

Alive in a dead man's mood,
And suffering from chronic dereliction,
What is the cloying sweetness of education without a job?
Could the government be a misanthrope or a culinary myrmidons?

They have silenced my deep-toned lamentations and dreams,
In a dewy coolness of the rayless hours,
I'm drown in my own tears and pain,
With a blurred and uncertain future.

If I die while trying and crying to survive,
Embalm me with a salve,
Burn my corpse at night,
Spray my ashes on a sea,
At dawn, send me away to my people with a lullaby.

All Alone

All alone, in the surreal, rayless eventide, gnarly, disheveled hands gouging from the rooted Earth, tongue forever tied. Melancholia echoing through Gods breath, despondency wrenching your azure-splashed jeans, the susurrus of the Devil's proclamation chirping out sadistic demeans.
All alone, breathlessly jabbing at Lucifers servants with your brandishing feet, salty droplets bedaubing your face, disquietude gripping your palpitating heartbeat. Waves of stress rippling across your forehead, perusing the foggy twilight, searching for your best friend.
All alone, crumpling to your knees, croaking out their name, conceding to Hell's winsome pleas. Sinking through the sepia spotted soil, choking on your solitary sloughing tears, catechizing with your friends, questioning your unaccommodating peers, inquiring why they aren't here, reaching out instead of these back stabbing villains.

The Eternal Dawn of Blissful Bodhi

Mired in a quagmire
Of quicksand and sin
Why not forsake rayless
Dusk for the eternal
Dawn of blissful Bodhi?

Sadness Weeps Contest Four Lines

Buried deep I can not breath this black abyss no light I see

Muddy dirt surrounds me in a bottomless pit so endless and extreme

Please! No more rain or I will further sink into this rayless ground no hand to grab I scream

'Oh' the worms of gore as birds sit plucking for more!

One Last Midnight Beyond the Dark

One last midnight beyond the dark

Black unfolds and there is no spark

No starlight to see or guide the way

The universe expands to end the day

The shadows have gone into the murky dusk

Choking light with its tasteless husk

The rayless opaque leaves a shaded skull

Its somber cloud makes my soul dull

Good Night

The day slips into rayless sky
And the busy of day finds it's end
Before I rest these tuckered eyes
There's a message I need to send

You've made my day fortuitous
In unexpected ways
For merely just my thoughts of you
Crafted smiles that lighted my face

Could it be we're that in tune
You mimic familiar routine
To think of me as night resumes
Saying good night dear one sweet dreams

Necropolis

The binomial scrolls list captive waste,
But the breathing chrysalis bound to the dark
Secured to the radian orbital stone
In the peripheral absence of the lark

She breathes alone
She remains unknown

She has no divisor to wilt her life
Nor governing census of phylum and foe
No patent pending inscription to wear
She has no divisor and no ratio

She is entombed
But she’s not doomed

The abyssal eclipse consumes their eyes
And the nebulous ash is in between
Their venom, their amulet of death
Embalms only the ones seen

Their sun is rayless
Their sky is starless

Upon the global breadth they have marched
Wearing arcane lenses of blinding light
Blistering bane of knowing all
Thinking the wrong is right

At the ecliptic frontier
I shed a lonely tear
