The Frog And The Chameleon

From out of the lacustrine,dense tract, green
Lining the silent mossy forlorn lake keen ,
Came out leaping and hopping,a fat frog ;
He landed and stopped on a reedy clog ,
As he saw the Chameleon on a stem frail ,
Gripping fast the rush with its prehensile tail ,
Croaking and flicking his tongue around,
To relish one and all the insects found ;
He made his own way on the rich moss,
And back and forth on the spread-over grass ;
His acrobatics envied and enraged the rival
Watching silently with rolling eyes since arrival .

The crestfallen had missed his chance thrice
And retracted to sit still like frozen ice -
Having lost  to the place his colour and stance ;
Thrill and anxiety did the  crux spell enchnce ;
A surly serpent suddenly sprang,as if to mock
Hissing , out of the crevice beneath a rock ;
It was a measured move -a prize catch ;
The victim was more a meal than a match ,
And went in neatly with a suppressed wail  ;
The avenged lizard quirked and muttered his hail :
Pride goes pouncing and swooping before a fall ,
Thus to end up with a whimper, defeat and all.

The Joy of Reconnecting

He laid there staring in outer space
His face showed no kind of emotion whatsoever.
She was confused as to what he was thinking,
Suddenly her heart started to race,
She calmly took a slow deep breath
Slowly enjoying inhaling
The scent of the disinfectant
Soaring high in the air surrounding them

He sits up reached out and held onto her hand
And immediately she went into his arms delightedly.
They hugged and squeezed each other tightly
While the tears from their eyes flow down their happy faces.
After a long hugged and everlasting squeezed
They finally freed themselves.
I knew you would come he said
With his lips quirked upwards in a joyous smile
You know me well she responded
I would never give you the pleasure
Of dying without saying good-bye

She threw her arms around his neck
And leaned against his chest for support
Time stood still and the silence engulfed them.
He could hear the pounding of her heart.
The kiss deepening until they both pulled away
In breathless wonders

At times, my touch on my own skin
is will- o – wisp – y, for it feels
like something strange resides within.

I’m in Oz but can’t click my heels.
This “ghost” in me just wants to stay.
When I’m at rest, often it reels!

I’m not “high,” nor am I crazy.
A drug prescribed, though, is to blame
I know why my strange quirks haunt me.

A victim of Big Pharma’s game,
I’ve taken myself off their crap.
Six months have passed; I’m still the same.

No lining has my mouth! Like sap,
bad taste upon my lips is stuck.
Big Pharma, ‘fess up! Take the rap.

My bottom lip I need to suck.
Expect to see me chewing gum.
I float when I walk!  W T F??

Thanks to my Doc (the big fat bum)
I can’t help sometimes feeling glum.

Anti-Racist

I clung, yes, clung
To that alien stupor
Sapped that suave subastral quintessence
That makes us
Cry…
And seldom
Laugh.
And I woke up
Rabid
As familiars quirked:
“He will bite them,
these racists!”

Never Mine

Her memory starts to sing.
She only says one word, but her mouth repeats and rings.
And I can't remember how many syllables or the letters made of use,
just her face and her eyes and her lips; when quirked amused.
And there she lingers in my head; a word not known but always said.
She keeps on dancing in my mind, but in her heart, she's never mine...
