Anti-Racist

I clung, yes, clung
To that alien stupor
Sapped that suave subastral quintessence
That makes us
Cry…
And seldom
Laugh.
And I woke up
Rabid
As familiars quirked:
“He will bite them,
these racists!”

If an anti racist visits harm on a racist are they not the same? The most difficult and powerful act is that of loving the person who wishes to do you harm. It reminds me of a picture of a Klu Klux clan member being tended to in an all black operating room, the doctors working vigintaly to save his life. Now that is a demonstration of the power of love. Good men rising in the midst of darkness.

Richard, that was Africa of the early 1970s. And that's exactly how it felt when one thought of racist South Africa.
