Potential

my potential, an entity I've put on a pedestal

I spend my days climbing her ridiculously high ladder with gift-wrapped handmade blades; only leaving when her skin is ripped & her dreams for me fade, little by little

The cruelty of my actions is but merely protection from rejection

I need her to let me go,but she craves; she lusts over the idea of intertwining our abilities, without my blades of insecurity

"What if this is all that I am?" a question too hard to answer, even for her

Admittedly, there are times, when I allow her powers to flow through me, but I almost always end up killing her

Like a dead, dried flower placed in water; her trust in me is actually just suicide disguised as hope.

My lonely heart suffers
The love of another
But is it my cerebellum
That feels this emptiness
Of something missing
For the heart is a muscle
Incapable of emotion
The brain seeks knowledge
Understanding and clarity
The heart feeds the body
Blood and oxygen for life
But I think it’s the souls
Desire for love
In the arms of another
Security and empathy
Endearment and kindness
Put on a pedestal
That nothing can break

Drowning In a Pool of Aged Tears

drowning in a pool of aged tears
so frozen and unable to move
truly experiences my every worst fears
so immobile and devoid of my usual groove

i guess i will walk with no focus on a lonely road
i guess i will not exist to all those that still love me
i might as well be one with those under a forgotten bridge with depression overload
i might as well put on a fake smile and observe all the footprints on my chest from all of the happy people above me

i once had a youthful exuberance that many did so admire
i once was put on a pedestal for the zest and effervescence of my whole anatomy
now i cower in a dingy dark oblivion to permanently retire
this new reality will receive from me no gratitude to the academy

A Dish Dished Out, Seldom Tried

Let me publish a book, I thought,
And soon His divine blessings sought.

Bless me God that it’s received well,
And in markets makes a marked spell.

Forget it, my innocent child,
He said, desist from dreaming wild.

If put on poetry sites’ stead,
Be content if some do get read.

You know, e’en I’ve been a failure—
A slight till today I endure.

See, I've been writing scores of fates,
Have ye seen one that appreciates?

I once wrote a mega poem—
My greatest spiritual emblem,

Gita, put on a pedestal,
Talked ‘bout, but who reads if at all?

As part of a greatest epic,
I thought it might easily click!

So, perish such a thought dear child,
Be cool, they’re safely isled and filed.

Where I Am From

Where I Am From by Kimberly Guice

I am from a place where love is always in the air
From a place where laughter is always near
From conflict to disputes and raging violence
From a place where even in the midst of it all there is
always a loving someone there

I am from a place where fried food is put on a pedestal
From a place where chores are not an option
From mama always saying ´What you Say´
From being comfortable to sometimes wanting to go away

I am from a place where the exterior and interior do
not have the same face
From pungent air so thick with smoke
From sagging pants and convicts that are broke
From a place where people believe there is no hope

I am from a place that does not embody me
From a place that does not believe in what it can be
From a place that I do not wish to be
From a place that will never define me

Premium Member Playing Human

The smile on my lips
is forced and coerced
I pretend to pay attention
give the best possible advice
everyone praises me
I'm so kind, polite and nice
It's all just automation
I rarely actually listen
certainly don't care
all I'm doing
is playing human
blending in
fitting in
I'm so perfectly hidden
you'll never even
see a curtain,
from where I stand

   Majoring in social events
   Put on a pedestal
   for computing with you
   I'm so perfectly hidden
   smiling from time to time
   Labeling those
   with all sincerity
   open mind every day
   Passing along appeal
   continuing to fit in
   blend in
   pretend
   force program
   Is it just me or
   am I the perfect human?

The Power of One

Put on a pedestal of shame because of belief,
immeasurable weight drags you down full of grief,
Immense pain engulfing your heart, mind and soul,
draining ‘til empty, rather than full,
When you want to speak out but scared to do so,
for the friends that you know now may soon turn to foe,
To them you are only one person, maybe less nothing more,
But your voice is made to speak up, if not what else for,
Doesn’t matter what race nor what age you are,
say what you need to for words from the heart nothing can mar,
Those on top feel that they are superior to god,
when the one’s below only wish to stand beside him,
rather than be trampled by others in to sod,
Your strength can be measured in the deeds done by you,
let those deeds formulate hope that in the darkness shines through,
You are not all alone, it only seems so,
your performance in life determines how far you go,
You can make a difference that will be perceived by some,
when the impact you’ve made multiplies in others visions,
it will be shown, the power of one.

Remain among the living
Feed glory to the wispy trails
Of fresh salted tears
Though not to exaltation

To put on a pedestal
Lift on high
The very virtue of kindness
That greys even the brightest of souls

Give up, trudge on
Either way is the forked road
Greeting fate’s traveler as all
As all indeed are cursed to sin

And lie we may
Among harlots to the world
According to God’s say
Selling ourselves short
Faulted kingdoms to heaven

Dictatorship to he who sits
With soft hands as in home
 The same be of spirit
Of sane mind, by will
Yet wicked of functional force

Gales of extinction inevitably
Cleansing the retardation
of over spun growth
until most truly all may
Remain among the living
