Protraction Poems

Satisfaction

You’ve come out this evening
For a wee, delicious bite
Drink fine wine, meet new friends
Your expectation? A fabulous night

Our farm is Vergenoegd Löw
It’s an interesting, unusual designation
Give me a minute to clear the mystery
By treating you to this narration

I searched all of the interwebs
To see,
who definitely knew?
I found an interesting list of people
Who’ve experienced it through and through

Seems that Debbie. From Dallas.
She knew it all
Mick and the Stones, when they got it
They had a ball

Bob Marley and UB40
At the end of a gig
They defs experienced it
When they lit up a spliff

Ghandi and Roy Orbison wrote about it,
As did Anne Frank and Kahlil Gibran,
Michael Jordan, Freud, Bill Gates,
The Pope, Margaret Thatcher. Even Superman.

It’s time to translate it
I’ll end my protraction
When you drink the wine tonight
You will experience - Satisfaction

Vergenoegd, and Professor Löw

Time For Change

Poetry is for dreamers
A boat I no longer wish to sail
Of wishful love an dreams and desires
And things with life gone haywire
I would rather now be a person
Of astute cause and action
Change the things we dream of
Shake off the protraction
As we look on the impending doom
Daily catastrophes that spread the gloom
Let us bend the winds that threaten to blow us
And make the world anew.

Under the canopy of the pine trees we lay -
from the poem 'Under the canopy of pine trees by Eve Roper

UNDER THE CANOPY

Under the canopy of the pine trees we lay.
Fervent scent gives undertow noses a heady sway.
Four eyes closed, we swallow the coniferous forest.
Love thrives in our paradisiacal protraction of rest.

Blinded to adversity, verdancy thrives in aurora splay
As our minds run into the river of sunlight to play.
We make promises — nothing sovereign outside our love.
He squeezes my hand, our engagement rings think of

Only this moment, the splendor of our crashing lips.
Our bodies envelope each other like an eclipse.
The force of nature — the arcadian elixir, its bliss.
I shall nevermore forget the chill of reminisce.

Premium MemberCyrus the Virus

Cyrus the virus is now among us
Known as Corona, causing a big fuss
Hailing from Wuhan city
Infecting without pity
New yellow peril for us to discuss

Over reaction quickly takes traction
Toilet paper now missing in action
Everyone should stay in bed
Then Cyrus will end up dead
But just how long our sleeping protraction

Hidden Sadness

Those who find in dismal poetry attraction
Could have within themselves some sadness in protraction
Behind seeming face of placid insulation
May be hidden melancholy well concealed
Many living lives of quiet desperation
That, in response, are unwittingly revealed

Think of Something Light

Think of something light
Mesmerising and bright
Nothing of substance
it's hollow
Example,
that oracle of Apollo
Bountiful, abundant thrill
Painless grinding
run of the mill
Pre-digested, indulgent,
surplus protraction
More to come, this
colourful distraction
Sit, rapt,
comfortably duped
The way some giant spoon
has scooped
Chocolate mint ice cream
from your brain
Like dreams, one always
ending the same
Consumables consumed
till sleepy time
Consumable mosaic's
of the false sublime
