Presume Poems

Premium MemberAssume and Presume

We impute to the animal kingdom
    human thoughts and emotions
My kitty licks herself, so I assume
    she's a cleanliness bug

Yet when a big kitty, like a tiger
    is eyeing me to eat
  I presume that she's starving
when I'm just a real taste treat

I do not now you well,
I would like to be your friend
I will not make assumptions
Until our friendship ends.

Do Not Presume To Tell Me How To Love You

The difference of who you were to me then
         to who you are now...

Lies in the words you use to explain how you feel.

I used to be a beautiful energy you were drawn to,

now I "was" a safe spot to explore the attraction of energies,
where your heart could not be hurt.

You were never safe for me.
You were a gamble I bet my soul on.

You were not a replacement for a vacancy I needed filled.
You were the destiny I was drawn too.

Do not diminish what was real to me.
It is enough that today you are realm of broken and distant,
the being in whom I was willing to risk it all for.
If you presume to tell me how I feel for you,
you rob me of even the honesty of the pain.

This "you" though, she was never you.
If this cruelty of you is you, I did not know her.
Perhaps the love misplaced, and there fore this pain is farce too.

I loved you. Not a void. Not a pretend image.
It was as real then as the loss was afterwards.
I just did not know yet every other part.
I can keep loving the whole of you, good and bad,
but I can not keep sacrificing my heart
to one who will never return love the same way.

Premium MemberPresume Nothing

As we go through life, are we not to gain wisdom?
Learning to do or to say the appropriate thing?
I thought by now that it would not be a problem.
But I made a mistake, and I feel the sting.

I like to think that I have some insight.
That I am sensitive to others needs.
But looking at this in hindsight.
I realize it was one of many misdeeds.

To assume that someone needs something,
but not certain what it is all about.
Can lead to misinterpreting their feeling.
And the intention falls short, leaving doubt.

It is difficult to withdraw an offering.
Once it has been addressed.
It was in no way meant to be offending.
I was mistaken in what I expressed.

I presumed to know what I didn't know.
And I went when I should have stayed away.
I hoped that my apology a bit later would show.
The regret that I tried to convey.

Presume Another Period

Presume Another Period

Republicans and period of time provoking
Jumping Jehoshaphat you gotta be joking
Always know when a woman will have one
Trump is glad when she is over and done.

Erogenous Trump is being energetic
Thinking women will only be copacetic
To him what about women is the best
His has been hard while hers is to digest.

No matter what Trump does or which way
There will be a period of total dismay
Though his hair is known to be receding
Would rather do that then to be bleeding.

After delinquent date we were to compile
Trump did go through a period of denial
With you, another thing we should share
Look at his little hands with lovely hair.

Premium MemberNever Presume

A man’s lack of worth, because of dismal origin,

We should never presume

For

Out of, the unappealing thorny body of a cactus,

The prettiest flowers bloom!

Presume

You presume it seems
you know me
Yet your words and actions show me
you seek not
below the surface of my pond
There beyond
your own reflection
where you view me through your perception
and it shows
